Quiet escape just outside of Varenna
Beautiful and quiet unit just outside of Varenna. Woke up to views of the river and right down the hill is access to a small beach. Was also very quiet.
One thing to note is the location. I would say it's not walkable to get to the town of Varenna from here. It's pretty far but also, the roads are narrow and don't have a sidewalk till you get close to the town. When we tried to get a taxi services or uber, we were told there were none available. It also rained during our time so renting e-bikes wasn't a feasible option. Luckily we had a rental car we could take and just park outside the town. The roads and garage are also pretty small, so if you go that route, rent a compact vehicle.
My only slight frustration was the lack of supplies in the unit. The island requires colored trash bags for various items. The instructions said there were some under the sink but we only found one and the local grocery doesn't sell them. The checkout instructions asked us to take the trash out and replace these bags. I messaged the host about this but didn't hear back.
