Ok hotel for a few nights
Overall ok hotel for a few nights stay. Big rooms, directly at the seaside and within walking distance to the harbour and city center. Staff was helpful and friendly, especially the breakfast staff. Just a few thinks were unpleasant. Our sink was blocked from day one and while it was looked at day two it still didn’t flush properly. Plus the bathroom wasn’t cleaned during our stay, which was quite unpleasant with a blocked sink. But rest of the room was clean and overall an ok hotel stay.

Dear Katharina thank you for the review, we note your comments with regards to the sink and the bathroom, we can only apologise and we wish that you had mentioned the bathroom not being cleaned during your stay this is something which could have been rectified immediately, we have spoken to the chambermaids for future refence.

Das Hotel befindet sich an einer sehr guten Lage direkt am Strand. Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen, dies wiederspiegelt sich im Geäbude, den Zimmern und der Einrichtung. Es gibt nur wenige Parkplätze, wird wurden auch mal zugeparkt und mussten uns mit den anderen Gästen arrangieren, damit wir zur gewünschten Zeit das Hotel verlassen konnten. Guter Standort für diverse Ausflugsziele. Das Hotel eigene Restaurant haben wir 2x besucht. Beim ersten Mal war es mit Ausnahme der langen Wartezeit sehr gut. Beim zweiten Mal gab es ein Buffet (immer am Sonntag), welches nicht zu empfehlen ist.

Zimmer erst nach 22:15 "bewohnbar"
Unser Zimmer war sehr klein und (durch die Sonne) auf ca 35 Grad aufgeheizt. Das Fenster konnte nur oben zu ca 1/4 geöffnet werden, direkt neben dem Fenster war der laute Abluftventilator der Küche. Wegen des Lärms konnte man das kleine Fenster nach 22:15 (als der Ventilator abgestellt wurde) öffnen und frische, kühle Luft rein lassen. Bad war OK, Frühstück sehr gut. Parkplatz war durch eine "Hüpfburg" für Kinder verstellt, weshalb wir das Auto an der Strasse parkieren mussten. Umgebung nicht sooo berauschend, zu Fuss ins Zentrum ca 20 Min

Badezimmertür ließ sich nicht vernünftig schließen, keine Möglichkeit seine Handtücher im Bad aufzuhängen oder im Zimmer Wandhaken, obwohl genügend Platz. Keine Info vorher, das jeden Sonntag auf dem Hotelparkplatz Hüpfburg aufgebaut ist. Somit sollte sehr unruhig und erst sehr Spät die wenigen Hauseigenen Parkplätze verfügbar

Family break in Penzance
We stayed here 1 night before taking the ferry to the Scilly Isles, and also another 3 nights on our return. The family room was very spacious with 2 extra beds positioned in a separate half-room from the main sleeping area. Very nice sea views with sitting area. Shower room quite small for the number of people able to use room. Trouble with hot water on some nights, staff were able to offer us use of another room until boiler was fixed. Breakfast served for only a short time in the morning (7.30-9am)but hot and cold options were all available.

Vom Hotel aus ist man mit wenigen Schritten an der Promenade mit Blick auf St. Michaela's Mount. Die Innenstadt und der Busbahnhof/Bahnhof sind zu Fuß gut zu erreichen. Wir haben viele Ausflüge mit den Bussen von First Kernow unternommen.

the hotel is very old and worn and the rooms are the same. the staff is very friendly and the breakfast good. the location of the hotel is right at the promenade and so you get everywhere quite quickly.

Das Hotel ist i.o. für eine Nacht. Gute Lage, schöner Ausblick. Sehr schlechte Infrastruktur. Lange parfümierte Gänge, schlechte Sanitäre Anlagen. Frühstück sehr einfach und wenig einladend, gebrauchte Tische werden nicht abgeräumt.

Wie schon andere sagten...
Ich habe aufgrund der bisherigen Reviews nicht allzuviel erwartet. Das Hotel ist tatsächlich in einem renovierungsbedürftigen Zustand. Ich habe nur eine Nacht dort verbracht, es war kein Problem. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt aber meiner Meinung auf keinen Fall. Das Zimmer selbst war sauber. Die Dusche hatte allerdings in den Ecken schimmelartige Abbildungen. Fazit für mich: Wenn der Preis nicht so hoch wäre und nur für einen kurzen Aufenthalt why not to come again...

Lugger Inn moeglichst vermeiden!!
Wir waren von Sonnabend zu Sonntag im Lugger Inn und es fand eine Diskothek mit einem Hoellenlaerm bis 24 Uhr statt. Erst spaet nach Mitternacht konnten wir schlafen. Der Preis ist voellig unangemessen.

We've stayed here previously so when we decided to return to Penzance, Lugger Inn was our first choice. Beautifully decorated, inside and out. Great chef, great food, great service, great location.

Old building with charm and stairs. Full hot buffet breakfast. Room very comfortable with sitting area to watch pedestrians along the strand. Coffee and tea in room. 20 minute walk from bus/train station. Food trucks on strand, restaurant on bottom. Lidl groceries a 5 min walk away. Pubs and shopping close by. Bring a rain jacket.

Fantastic little hotel with great staff!!
The location, staff, rooms, quality of food absolutely fantastic, the room I was in was a little hot but bearable especially considering it had the sun in it from morning until night, it could have done with a fan or something but like I said it was bearable, the only thing missing from the room was an iron but other than that it was perfect. The room was really spacious, cleaned daily, the breakfast was one of the best hotel buffet breakfasts I have had for a very long time. The bar prices were very fair, £4-£5.50 a pint, the even meals were very well portioned and at a fair price. It was a quiet hotel, I hardly heard any of the other guests and considering I was above the bar hardly heard them even though it was fairly busy… and I had the windows open. The staff were very friendly and helpful, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great value for money.
The breakfast was excellent and the service the same and super friendly (without being in your face). It’s right on the sea front so really convenient for everything. Parking can be tough, but I was lucky. I’d definitely stay here again if ever in the area!

Slightly disappointed
Kitchen extractor fan directly below room and could be heard from bedroom. Cooking fumes/smells came straight through window. Lack of mirrors and getting ready areas and the bed creaked and mattress looked old and only 1 accessible plug socket.

Thank you for the review, we did sort the issues that you raised at the time of your stay with us, we explained that the extractor fan is switched off every evening by 9pm, so this would not hinder your sleep, we gave you a mirror for the bedroom, the bed is just 1 year old and the mattress is only 9 months old so no idea why it creaked, there are three plug sockets in room 3??? We are sorry that you were not happy with your stay, we thought when we spoke with you that all was fine?

We had a lovely stay, the staff is extremely friendly, location is brilliant, right next to the sea, near the Jubilee Pool and very close to Newlyn. All the amenities were nearby. Breakfast was included, which is a lovely bonus. We were late once, but we’re still allowed to have breakfast. Food is absolutely lovely. The room was spacious with a sea view and it was cleaned and towels have been changed everyday. The shower pressure was a bit low though and overall needs a bit of tlc.

Met and exceeded expectations.
The hotel is located on the sea-front and within easy walking distance of the town centre and the bus station. Good-sized rooms, well prepared and enjoyable breakfast and dinner and the bar offers a wide selection of drinks. Full marks too for the staff, who are polite and helpful.

Property is right on the main road passing through Penzance, so if you have a room with a view of the sea, then you also get the traffic and noise, plus if you are on the the 1st floor you get people at the outside pub seating area being able to look right into your room. Other than that it is a convenient place to stay and have access to the old part of Penzance.

Nice location but run down
Hotel was in a nice location. On the sea front, however the room was warm no Air Conditioning or fan provided seagulls were nesting opposite so they were quite noisy so during the day could have the windows open but at night was loud. Building work was being done which we weren’t aware of drilling at 8am outside our room. Breakfast caters for older guests and varies day to day. First day only orange juice on offer but rest of the week apple juice was on offer. In terms of food breakfast items was things like prunes and grapefruit with natural yoghurt. Cooked breakfast consists of sausages left to go hard under the heat lamps, bacon going the same way, also toast isn’t cooked to order or able to cook yourself it is made and left under the heat lamp too. Bed war uncomfortable lumpy and mine had a sharp bit in it that really hurt me when getting into the bed. Double is just two singles pushed together. Room was dated with chunks of paint missing and mould growing in the corner of the room, half of the room lights didn’t work only the bathroom light and the light above the bed worked even then there was two above the bed and only one of them worked. Don’t think rooms are checked very often for if stuff is working. Also rooms have kettle but no way of filling it up as the sink is so tiny.

Thank you for leaving a review, we are sorry that we did not meet your expectations, we would like to think that you could have mentioned any of theses issues during your stay as it is difficult to sort anything out when a guest has departed, with regards to the bed it is a zip and link bed which means the two 5 ft beds link together via a zip system affording the bed to be a king size bed or if needed two larger singles, we would never just have two beds pushed together as out health & safety would not permit this! the works being carried out were not on our premises and we were not informed of any work taking place either so we can only apologise for this, our building is old pre-1925 we do redecorate every winter, but obviously the building is old and is very busy so some areas may be in need of painting, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Sorry about the seagulls unfortunately living by the sea we do tend to be over-run especially during the summer months when they are as you say nesting! Our rooms are checked every day we are sorry that the light was missed.
