My wife and I had a lovely stay here at the Glenriddings hotel. The main hotel is very tidy and comfortable.
We had a great view of both the lake & mountains from our very large room, although there were a few things that need changing.
On arrival we headed to the main reception where a gentleman, not doing a lot, directed us to the main bar area to check in. There had just been an extremely heavy storm and the bar area was extremely busy & loud ( to the point we couldn't hear ourselves speak).
We checked in and at the same time made dinner reservations. We went for a swim in the hotel pool which was a great addition with the extreme weather outside.
Dinner was also served in the main bar area, no separate dining room (not even a quieter residents only bar area is available).
The food and service was excellent, but because of the extreme noise , dinner was a far from relaxing affair.
We were told there was a large wedding party arriving for the following days nuptials, they got louder & louder & louder!
My wife and I decided to escape with a couple of glasses of wine to the hotels games room, where we had peace and quite for the first time all night!
Breakfast next morning was served in the coffee bar area downstairs. The food again was delicious but it did feel like we were sat in a shop and not a pleasant hotel.
The staff are all extremely pleasant and can not be faulted, but why the man on the main reception could not have checked us in is still a mystery!
