Gemütliches Cottage in einem wunderschönen Tal
Das Cottage ist eines von 7 in einem langgezogenen Gebäude und hat einen eigenen Gartenbereich. Ullswater/Glenridding ist fußläufig erreichbar. Die Einrichtung ist sehr gemütlich, die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter war prima: immer gut erreichbar und sehr hilfsbereit. Die Tipps und Beschreibungen sind sehr genau, aber auch genau zu beachten (Handtücher sind mitzubringen, Schlüsselkasten nicht leicht zu finden). Parken schwierig, da wenig Platz und nicht pro Cottage reserviert/markiert.

Häuser am Rande der Zivilisation
Eine kleine Waldstraße führt steil zu den Häusern. Umgebung ist traumhaft. Abseits vom touristischen Sammelpunkt Glenridding, aber doch nah genug um per Fuß zu erreichen. Unterkunft ist klein aber mit allen wichtigen ausgestattet. Waren sehr gerne da.

Peaceful retreat
If you are willing to put up with a somewhat challenging access road and parking problems, you will find a cosy cottage in wonderful and quiet surroundings. The cottage is equipped with everything necessary to make your stay pleasant. The hosts are friendly and offer lots of useful information. Absolutely recommended.

5 Nächte verbrachten wir in diesem Cottage. Gut ausgestattet mit vollwertiger Küchenzeile, Bad, Holzofen und Elektroheizern. Das alte Haus wurde mit vielen guten Ideen neu hergerichtet. Die urige Einrichtung wurde passend zum Haus ausgewählt. Die rumpelige, ca. 1,5 km Zufahrt über einen geschotterten Fahrweg war mit unserem PKW problemlos zu fahren. Eine detaillierte Beschreibung wird vom freundlichen Vermieter zur Verfügung gestellt. Er reagiert schnell bei Anfragen.

Wonderful cottage in a perfect location
Lovely cottage, well-equipped. Wonderful position for walking straight from the cottage, and the valley with its birdsong and red squirrels is a joy. The track up to the cottage has some slightly challenging moments for a standard small car that’s low to the ground, but we managed fine. Overall, a magical cottage in a magical setting.

Great Location, Beautiful cottage,
Cottage is located in beautiful Location in very quiet place. Beautiful Small Cottage with good and Clean amenities, Nice and clean Small Sitting room including clean sofa and kitchen on Ground floor. Two Bedroom located on first floor. One bedroom got very small bunk bed which is not suitable for adult other bedroom got very beautiful view thru window. Nice and cozy warm bedroom. Bathroom was small and clean. Warm water supply required in bath. Overall very good Cozy cottage. Recommended for couple and family with kids.

For me this is a very special place. This was our third visit. Mark was very helpful and easy to contact. This place is a true peace haven full of wild life and nature. There is only one issue and that it says for 4 adults. If the adults don't mind sleeping in bunkbeds and are around 5ft 5" there is no problem. Other than that it was a wonderful holiday with so much to see and do at our fingertips. We were also .blessed with absolutely fantastic weather. Thanks Mark and Leon for a most enjoyable stay.

Glencoyne Valley Cottage Review
This is a superb cottage with great views and hiking opportunities. The owner, Leon, is very responsive and helpful. I was delayed in my arrival to the cottage and Leon helped me with driving directions to the cottage given over the phone while I drove well after midnight in Cumbria.

Amazing!
We stayed as a family of four for a week. Stunning location with incredible views. The house is an old miners cottage which has been tastefully refurbished with everything we needed and feels like you’ve gone back in time. The kids loved watching the local wildlife including red squirrels and a wide variety of birds. The house was positioned well and a great base to explore the Lake District.

Lovely little cottage
Property was clean and comfortable. Nice little garden. Lovely view and we saw red squirrels in the garden. We booked for 3 adults not realising the children's room actually had small beds. Luckily the guest staying in that room was not tall. Other than that we had no problems and we had an enjoyable few days staying in the cottage.

Beautiful little cottage
Fantastic location for hikes from the front door. Very small but everything we needed. The long driveway was a bit of a challenge for our car but well worth it to be in a tranquil spot away from the main road. Overall a perfect little cosy cottage!

What a gem!
We loved staying at Seldom Seen; what a gem! Quiet and peaceful; we saw a woodpecker, 2 red squirrels and many birds in the garden. We did some nice hiking (even up to the Sheffield Pike from the cottage) as well as horse riding. And we went to the travellers rest for some nice pub food. Once more thank you so much! We will definitely recommend your place to anyone wanting to visit the Lake District 👌.

The only issue we had is the bunk beds are about 5'10" in length.
As stated bunk beds are very short. Also I booked as two adults and a child, but the second adult was my son as he's 16, but they'd made up the double bed and only one bunk bed. No a major problem, but just make sure you're clear.

Rustic cabin In Beautiful location
For the most part, this is a great place to stay, though it has some quirks that visitors should know about in advance. The location is absolutely stunning and very peaceful and it is a great base for hiking around Glenridding. The road up to the cottage is pretty rough and narrow, but it is passable (and very beautiful). The cottage itself is cozy. The owner sent detailed and helpful instructions before we arrived which were very helpful. The owner did want us to bring our own towels, which was a bit inconvenient because we do not live in the UK but might not be an issue for most visitors. On the whole, this was great value (much cheaper than other 2 bedrooms in the area) and a fabulous location for exploring the Lake District. I would recommend it.

A charming period cottage, sensitively updated and very well-eqipped. Fantastic location near Ullswater north of Glenridding. The track to the cottage is rough, but the worst bit is just after the cattle grid - if I could get up it in a 1967 MGB, cars with normal ground clearance will have no problem! The new patio area has extensive views and there were 15 species of birds in the garden as well as the red squirrels. The kitchen had all we needed to cook all week and the cottage stayed cool in the unusually hot weather.

We found the property fairly easily from the instructions, the property is well presented, but we found it a little small for our family of four, 2 teenage daughters and 2 adults, the property is an old miners cottage and we think that it may benefit from additional lighting in the main living area, we would recommend the property for a couple to stay

Amazing location and sunset views
Mark & Leon resolved our heating issue very quickly, and kept in touch to control the electric heaters remotely. The road is much improved so no difficulty accessing. Fingers crossed it is maintained this way. The shower struggles with water pressure (understandable given remote location) so was difficult to control temperature but the quaint cottage and well equipped kitchen made up for that. Adding towels to the package and tea bags would be my only recommendation. Otherwise wonderful. We’d definitely come back.

Ideal location for a relaxing weekend
Great walks & views with plenty of wild-live on your door step, spotted a few red squirrels in the garden. Property was clean and tidy, very pleasant, heating was good but firing up the wood burner helped especially as we visited in January. A road sign indicating the track that leads to the property would help, it is a bit difficult to find if you arrive in the dark. You don’t need a 4*4, we had no problems getting up the track in our old Ford Fiesta. Would highly recommend. It is a great get away from it all and very comfortable.

It is not in the village but if you need anything you can reach the village in 25 min walk. Perfect place to stay if you want to go hiking. The house is super clean and has everything you need. Wildlife haven at Seldom Seen
I chose this property because of the wildlife that others had seen here - we weren't disappointed. As we had arrived in darkness, opening the blinds in the morning was an exciting prospect and straight away we saw red squirrels in the garden. Also seen was a fabulous variety of birds so this location is perfect for people who want peace, stunning views and wildlife on the doorstep. The cottage is very well presented and equipped, cosy and has lovely comfy beds. It's perfect too if you like walking. Many thanks - we'd love to return one day

Great last minute short break away
Had an absolutely lovely break away at Seldom Seen. The cottage was quaint, in the most tranquil location ever. It was clean and well equipped with everything needed, including WiFi which wasn’t listed on the orig amenities list. The drive up the off road single track to the cottage is not for weak drivers/small cars but luckily we managed and didn’t meet anyone coming the other direction at the same time and the stairs (or ladders should I say) are not suitable for young children or people with limited mobility but I thought they were quirky. The owners were at hand when needed to help sort the heating control and very helpful. Overall a fantastic little cottage - would highly recommend!

If I could gove it 6 stars I would.
Basically this place is fantastic. Our 12 year old loved the place. The wildlife is a reason alone to to. The cottage had everything you needed. Rooms are fine and we did not even have to use the fire as it’s so warm and cosy. If you want a nice quiet location that kids will love and only a few min away from the town this is the place. I wou give it 6 stars if I could. The host was fantastic. Thank you so much.

Tiny hideaway
Perfect location if you want to be tucked away which we always do! Took our kayak down to the lake two mins away which was so fun. You can walk to helvellyn from the cottage but we decided to do the mad loop along Striding Edge etc so started in the village. Hosts are awesome and helpful. Everything comfortable and sooo cute! Stairs not for the very young or very old but not more challenging than the mountain :)

Beautiful, secluded cottage in perfect location to explore Ullswater
3 Seldom Seen was a wonderful place to stay, we felt so lucky to have chanced upon the opportunity, especially with how booked up places are this year. It's all about the location for us, and this row of miners cottages, just a short distance from Ullswater lake but perfectly secluded in the valley below Sheffield Pike was amazing. Red squirrels in the gardens, peace and tranquility, walks direct from/close to the cottage and easy access into Glenridding for amenities and the surrounding hills around Ullswater was ideal. The cottage is quaint and charming, and very well-equipped (we came armed with cafetieres and things we often find aren't present in holiday homes and didn't need to use anything), the place was spotless on arrival, bed was really comfortable, and the DVD and book collection was welcome too. We enjoyed sitting outside in the private area of the garden. I think young children would LOVE the den-like second bedroom with bunkbeds. Communication with Mark and Leon was excellent. We would definitely stay again in future and will recommend to others. The drive up the track is OK - almost all of it is actually well-made, just a fairly stony bit at the start that you need to go carefully on if you don't have a 4by4. I'm not precious about my car though and am used to driving country lanes and unmade roads, so may not be for everyone. The ladder-like stairs have a handrail and rope-hold for safety so fine for those who do not have mobility issues. We spent first few days walking direct from the cottage or walking into Glenridding and starting walks from there (About 25 mins to Glenridding) and the latter half of the walk we used the car to start hikes from Patterdale valley (beautiful - recommend Fairfield and Place Fell circulars and Angle Tarn where we enjoyed a lovely swim in the hot weather). Hire a canoe or motorboat on the lake too, or get the steamer. Thank you for a lovely stay.
