Me and my wife just spent nine days at the hotel. Staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was modern, clean and had a beautiful view including sunsets every night. Housekeeping was very nice as well. The have a great gym for a hotel as well as good SPA treatments.
The only thing that we thought was not five star, was the food. The breakfast buffet is ok but not more. Standard continental breakfast but nothing special or creative. The Marriott team would be well advised to visit "fancier" hotels to check out what a more contemporary breakfast buffet can look like (how about a Mediterranean corner with feta, olives, hummus and chick peas, how about avocado toast with poached eggs, how about a salmon toast with cream cheese or a finer selection of juices and granola? How about coffee not from the machine, but from a barista?).
Same goes for the pool bar and room service. You will find you standard club sandwich, fries, pizza, burger, etc. But for a 5* hotel we would expect better quality and a more creative menu.
Because of the breakfast, pool and room service experience, we did not go for dinner.
And lastly, dear Marriot the music at the pool bar really does not fit the atmosphere. How about some Cafe del Mar instead of cheesy EDM playlists. ;)
So overall, we can really recommend the hotel for a nice relaxing, romantic family or couple vacation. People are all extremely helpful and nice. Just don't expect too much from the food.
