Booked the hotel & checked in around 12:30, and left the room at around 3:30/4pm in hopes to return in the morning to freshen up as we were off on a night shift. To our shock we returned and were greeted by a lady ( assume one of the owners ) and she looked very confused! Asked what room we were in and let us carry on to the door, we found the door was open ( I had locked the door and had the key to the room ) she then came over and said we thought you had left so emptied the room and changed the sheets and towels and said what do you want me to do now, this was at 8:45am in the morning ( check out not until 10:30am ) we explained even though we shouldn’t have to that we were on a night shift and came to freshen up but we were refused the room! They could have rang us, or left the room alone till we checked out at least. Never experienced this before anywhere.
One of the owners was very apologetic, but after asking for any sort of compensation for the issues caused I never heard back so had to contact Expedia directly.
