My husband and I have stayed at Riu in other countries and never had any issues! This Riu was not the case! Check in went well, our room was not ready, the staff labeled our four bags and told us they’d put them in storage and email me when our room was ready. We had lunch and explored the property, it is small and the first thing we noticed was the staff at the buffet were not friendly at all, which surprised us as at other Riu properties the staff were amazing! Once our room was ready we asked about our bags in storage, and discovered our bags were never put in storage and remained sitting in the lobby with two other guests bags. I was very unhappy, but I kept to myself and figured it will be ok! We got to our room, we booked an ocean view room with a king bed! We will start with the view, we were on the second floor, our balcony overlooked a rooftop, and had scaffolding and construction debris everywhere! We could hardly see the ocean and again had scaffolding and all sorts of debris in our immediate view! The door appeared to have been broken into before as well, and didn’t look led properly, we would have to shut it just right for it to secure! The room was clean, but not as clean as I feel it should be! I went to front desk and explained all
My problems, I was told I did have a partial ocean view and I could pay to upgrade I said no! I explained again about my issues, and was told they have no rooms they were sold out , but I’d be put on a rota
