Beautiful stay with Ray
We had a fabulous time on Vancouver island, love the scenery, the beach in walking distance and of course the great accommodation. Everything was well equipped, our host Ray went out of his way to show us more and supplied us with additional gas for our grill when we needed it. I can absolutely recommend the accommodation in Nanaimo.

Hervorragend, alles super - outstanding great experience
Alles war wie beschrieben, sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Die Betten sind bequem und die Küche hat alles was man benötigt. Besonders die Lage ist hervorzuheben, ruhig und wir konnten von der Terrasse aus das Meer sehen. Makaely ist eine hervorragende Gastgeberin, die sich sehr gut um ihre Gäste kümmert. Das tägliche Frühstück war auch immer frisch und nach Wunsch vorbereitet. Vielen Dank für diese großartige Erfahrung. Everything was as described, very clean and well equipped. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. Especially the location is to be highlighted, quiet and we could see the sea from the terrace. Makaely is a super host who takes great care of her guests. The daily breakfast was always fresh and cooked to order. Thank you very much for this great experience.

Quick Getaway
I am in BC for work and had to stay over the weekend so I took the ferry from Horseshoe Inlet to Nanaimo. The ferry is easy and an enjoyable ride. The Savvy Seagull was a great place to stay. Very clean and the fireplace made it feel very comfortable in early Spring. Ray was very helpful and accommodating to my late check in. Thanks for everything!

The location was excellent, within walking distance to Neck Point Park. However, I was unaware of the flight of 28 stairs that was required to navigate to get to the lower level suite. My sister and I are seniors - we both needed help to get our suitcases up and down. Ray, the owner, was a delight to deal with.

Beautiful hideaway
This property was lovely. It faces the water, it’s completely private, and access to all that Nanaimo has to offer is convenient. Our hosts were friendly and unobtrusive, and we all enjoyed our stay. Our boys loved the fireplace and the opportunity to watch the sunrise from the deck.

Very clean, comfortable and quiet for. Any suggestion might be that a motion light be installed near the door. We came in after dark every night and needed to use our phone to see the key pad.

short visit at Seagull suite
The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and cozy.The kitchen was very well equipped, as well as the bathroom. Robes and sandals were a nice touch. Too bad we stayed only 2 days, as we were visiting the family living in Nanaimo during the day. The algae on the steps were slippery, so we had to watch our step. Ray and James were nice and caring hosts.

A Christmas week in Nanaimo
Great location with view of the trees of Neck Point. lots of room in 2-bedroom suite for 2 of us. One bed very firm and 1 softer. Really enjoyed gas fireplace. Full kitchen with almost everything we needed to cook a Christmas dinner. Only negative were the 32 steps down to our rental suite entrance as it is on a steep lot. The owner and family kindly helped us get our luggage and food supplies down the steps.

Comfortable and well equipped
Accommodation very good, and would be fine for up to four. Main issue was first impressions of house front at street level. We did not realize that the rental was down many steps to the bottom level at the back. So view was more limited than expected. Steps down make it difficult for older couples like us, although we were able to leave through the back laneway so did not have to carry bags back up the steps.

Home away from Home
We came to Nanaimo to see relatives. After a day of touring, it was great to come back to the "seagull", to relax and recharge for the next day of sightseeing. The proximity to Neck Point also gave us a chance to exercise. We'd book this property again if we come back to Nanaimo in the future.

This property was just as stated the VRBO listing. Cleanliness is of first importance to us and the "Savvy Seagull" met this criteria. The host, Ray and her spouse were gracious without being intefering. I highly recommend this property for anyone who wants to rest or explore Vancouver Island. Good location for access to Victoria or the inland (Sproat Lake, etc.)>

location to the waterfront parks is a great feature,
The host was very accommodating and seemed genuinely concerned that everything was ok. The suite was very well-equipped with almost everything you need or forgot (even had shaving cream!) It's not quite waterfront as pictures might suggest, however within a 5m drive to numerous waterfront parks. The suite lacks a dishwasher and is located in the lower suite of the host's home. It is a walkout so NOT a basement suite. The two separate bedrooms are a bonus. There is a walkway on the side of the house which leads to the suite. There are quite a few stairs to navigate. Overall the location to the waterfront parks is a great feature, obviously, price is a consideration and at the time we booked the $ per night was a great value.

Great location
The unit is just as advertised. Comfy two bedrooms with shared bathroom. Location is great. Enjoyed our stay here. As said in prior reviews, the stairs are a lot. Not bad on a day to day basis but when it’s time to carry your luggage back up … ugh. But you only have to do it once. Otherwise great location and Ray met us at check in and was super friendly. Would stay again.

We had an enjoyable stay at Savvy Seagull Suite, a cozy and well-equipped retreat. It's not quite waterfront as pictures might suggest and lacks a dishwasher. However, it compensates with luxurious amenities, and reliable Wi-Fi for remote work. Recommended!

Location and accommodation with Ray and James was good, we were satisfied with it. Overall the only negative we had was the sound of loud walking above us. It was alright during the daytime but most annoying during the night. We were expecting the stairs outside so that was not an issue for us.

Nice stay
We enjoyed staying here. We have stayed here before and had no problems, but last weekend unfortunately, the Wifi was unreliable, and that particular community has poor cellular data reception, so I could not even use my cellphone as a hotspot, and was unable to get the work done that I had hoped to do. Ray was very apologetic, and I feel that likely the issue was out of her hands in any case.

Nice stay!
The suite was very clean and very comfortable. All amenities were there as described. It is located in a nice quiet neighborhood, a few minutes by car from shops and restaurants. The only caveat is that the suite is not at street level, more than 20 steps to go down. Not practical for people with some mobility issues.

The suite has a fairly well equipped kitchen and is well appointed with conveniences. Overall it was fairly clean and comfortable. The information that i got in the confirmation email from VRBO wasn't all up to date. There were some communication difficulties due to that, but it all worked out. We loved the nearby Neck Point park, and swimming in the ocean. It is easy to get to from the ferry. One safety concern - the hot water is scalding hot - it should be turned down. The honours cat is a character, very nice.

Great location + pool & trampoline bonus
We were pleasantly surprised by the new pool and the trampoline (especially our kids!). The property was clean with comfortable beds and soft towels, even beach towels were provided. Kitchen was well equipped. The hosts were very welcoming and quick to respond to any questions. Location is great as Neck Point is a beautiful close by walk. We would definitely stay here again if visiting Nanaimo. Thanks for sharing your home!

Location and value.
A great stay with the best location for eBiking and convenience to amenities. Hosts were extremely cordial. The only negative found was the workout of numerous steps required to access the lower unit. Consequently the value of pricing is reflected. Patio with BBQ even provides a partial view of the bay. fantastic vacation
The property was more than we could have asked for. Beautiful covered deck to sit and enjoy a coffee or glass of wine Large bedrooms with very comfortable beds. Modern kitchen which was well equipped. A short walk from the back gate we could walk along trails and lookouts to the ocean. There were also special little surprises. Like bath robes for all four visitors along with slippers. What a treat!. All in all we agreed that we would definitely stay there again and will tell our friends about our great holiday. Thank you so much to Ray and James for making this a special trip for four old friends who have known each other for almost fifty years.

This property worked wonderfully for us because it was close to our family that live in Nanaimo. We weren’t at the property much but during the night the people above us were very noisy. The sound bearer between floors wasnt very good

Wonderful stay
We were very happy with this property. The location was so close to Neck Point Park and Linley Valley Park, and it was easy to get in and out of town via Hammond Bay Road. The interior was clean, modern, and welcoming, with all the touches you could want to enjoy your stay! The beds were comfortable, and the shower was hot, with good water pressure. The deck was a wonderful area to sit on and enjoy the view. Ray was a fabulous host, and was very helpful. At times we could hear the owners walking above us, but it was otherwise nice and quiet. I would definitely stay here again!
