At check-in, we were the only person at the counter. The chicken process took so long, and I lacked confidence at the counter personnel. Once we got to our room… There were no towels and no TV remote. I felt as if they had never prepared for our coming. The next day, we had a Buffay, which was quite good. And spent our time at the beach in a swing chair, looking out over the water. The service was generally slow and untrained. It took a few tries to get things right. I would blame the management team for lack of training and oversight over to employees. The employees had a good attitude. They just did not know what to do. This was particularly true in the bar. Although, we ended up getting drunk… The cocktails were virtually flavorless and uninspired. I would give high marks to the people working there for their effort. I would give extremely low marks to the management because the staff was just not prepared. I would score it right in the middle, but, there are many choices in Mombasa on the ocean, and we would not choose to stay at the Severn Sea Lodge again.
