Built in 1870 and beautifully renovated, Heirloom is one of Carlton's most historic terraces. Step inside and find Persian rugs layered across original timber floors, antique furniture collected across decades, gilt-framed art on every wall. A place with a genuine point of view, and one that'll invite you to settle in and feel it.

The Neighborhood:

You'll be hard pressed to find a more compelling address in Melbourne. Heirloom sits directly opposite Carlton Gardens and the Melbourne Museum, with the UNESCO World Heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building visible from your own front verandah. It's the kind of location that makes guests feel like they've found something most visitors never do.



Carlton is one of Melbourne's oldest and most loved inner suburbs, and it's got everything within reach. Lygon Street's legendary Italian dining strip is a short walk away. Fitzroy's bars, galleries and independent restaurants are just around the corner. The University of Melbourne is minutes on foot. St Vincent's Hospital is easily accessible for medical visitors.



The Melbourne Museum tram stop on Nicholson Street is approximately 600 metres away, connecting you straight to the CBD. But you'll find you don't need it much. This is one of Melbourne's most walkable neighbourhoods, with cafes, delis, bookshops, parks and some of the city's best restaurants all within easy reach.



Carlton doesn't shout. It doesn't need to. It's simply one of the best places to be in Melbourne, and Heirloom puts you right in the heart of it.



Getting Around:

Heirloom is in one of Melbourne's most walkable neighbourhoods. Carlton Gardens, the Royal Exhibition Building and Lygon Street are all under 6min on foot.



The nearest tram stop is Melbourne Museum on Nicholson Street, approximately 600 metres away. Routes 86 and 96 connect directly to the CBD.



Street parking is available on Carlton Street and surrounding streets. Permit parking applies in this area (permit provided). Guests are responsible for checking current time restrictions before parking.

SAME-DAY BOOKINGS

We have a one-day booking lead time to schedule housekeeping and check-in. We can't always guarantee a 3pm check-in for last-minute bookings, especially where there's a departing guest. Priority is given to guests who've booked in advance.



EARLY CHECK-IN REQUESTS

Looking to start your stay a little earlier? After booking and up to the morning of your arrival, you'll have the option to purchase an early check-in for your nominated time. This is subject to approval and will depend on departing guests. If you definitely need earlier access, consider booking the night before if it's still available.

We also provide a limited number of dishwasher and laundry pods. Starter supplies are provided to get you going and aren't intended to last the duration of your stay. If you run out, our team can point you to nearby stores and delivery services, or you can order additional supplies directly from us.



BABY EQUIPMENT FOR HIRE

For safety and hygiene reasons, we recommend our preferred baby hire companies for all equipment needs during your stay. Please reach out for further information.



LONG STAYS

All stays of 28 nights or more require at least one mid-stay clean per month at an additional cost. This allows our team to periodically clean, maintain and inspect the property. This is non-negotiable. Please contact us to discuss custom arrangements based on your preferred frequency.
