WHAT DOES SONDER MEAN?

This word can be found in a really interesting read called 'The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows'. It was created by John Koenig and coins and defines neologisms for emotions that do not have a descriptive term. We chose this name specifically because it perfectly describes the dynamics of this little slice of heaven.

Of 'sonder' Koenig writes:

n. the realization that each random passer-by is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.

Discover the artsy part of Fitzroy where the alternative side of Melbourne is in full-force. Fitzroy is the inner-city mecca for all things cool and kooky. Wander along Brunswick Street, Fitzroy’s main drag, for lots of vintage clothing stores, street art, and second-hand bookshops. Take your pick from an array of cafés, bars, and restaurants, like the famous vegetarian spot Vegie Bar.

Fitzroy's locals are laid back and super friendly, and the entire area has a culturally diverse vibe. My apartment is centrally located and perfect for exploring the local area on foot, as well as other cutting edge Northside pockets of Melbourne such as Smith Street in Collingwood, Lygon Street in Carlton, and Bridge Road in Richmond.

Located 5 minutes away from the apartment, you'll find the Melbourne Museum, The IMAX Theatre, The Royal Exhibition Building, and the Carlton Gardens.

You won’t do better than Fabulous Fitzroy for location, fun, excitement, and convenience.

Getting Around:
To access the CBD by tram, simply walk north on Fitzroy Street towards Brunswick Place. Turn right onto Hanover Street. Then turn left onto Brunswick Street, and Tram Stop 14 (King William Street) will be on the left. From here take the Route 11 ‘West Preston’ tram to Victoria Harbour Docklands. Exit the tram at The Town Hall on Collins Street (7 stops).

From the tram stop at The Town Hall on Collins Street, you can easily access all of central Melbourne's most famous attractions, such as Federation Square, Southbank, The National Gallery of Victoria, The Crown Casino, and The Botanical Gardens.

We have a booking lead time 1 day in order to schedule housekeeping & check-in requirements for the following day. For this reason, we cannot always guarantee a check-in time of 3pm for last-minute bookings, especially where there is a departing guest.
