Our active family of 4 (2 adults, 2 youth ,age 14 and 11yrs) stayed at El Mirador Magnifico for 9 days . I have to say it was our best vacation ever! The mountains, lush tropical surroundings, abundant wildlife right around the villa , several nearby beaches, ocean, awesome restaurants within walking distance and lots of adventure made for an unforgettable time. The villa itself was beautiful and had so many unique touches all around. Nice and cool while still being eco-friendly. Kids loved having their own rooms and bathrooms. The upper rooms do get loud with night time rains, just an FYI. We moved to the lower rooms if needed. The view I will never forget....cried when I took my last look! We were visited by monkeys several times a day and were also greeted by a sloth and many interesting creatures every morning and night. We did not rent a car, and would not advise it. Driving is crazy and this location is close to everything! Get ready for lots of uphill walks..not that anyone ever complained :) If motion sick, take meds! Take a flashlight to navigate better after sunset, which happens early. Large umbrellas are provided. We enjoyed coffee on the upper deck every morning, watching the monkeys and listening to the crashing waves in the distance. Breakfast and lunch was included in some tours and supper was a new experience every night. So many fantastic restaurants within minutes walk. Awesome service and good portions. Our favourites were Emelio's café, the Falafel bar, Barba Roja and Café Milagro. The Costa Rican people were so friendly both on tours and in restaurants. We did many tours....ADR 10 in 1 adventure, Ziplining with El Santurio, Mangrove Kayak tour with Iguana tours and The Manuel Antonio park tour with Iguana Tours. All of these were easily arranged the day before with our wonderful concierge, Alberto. He offered lots of assistance and good advice while still respecting our privacy. Alberto walked with us to the nearby beaches and gave us tips on getting around. Playa Espadilla offers excellent boogie boarding but you are approached a lot by vendors and pay $5 per lounge chair, but still worth it. Playa Biesanz was more peaceful and calm. We also walked down to Playa Playitas, accessed thru Arenas del Mar ..go to the entrance and they drive you to the beach on a golf cart! Never got a chance to eat lunch there on the beach..next time! I highly recommend this villa, and would also not hesitate going in rainy season either :)
