First time staying in Malton. Arrived Friday just after lunch on market day and parked just outside the building. Chapter 2 is a bar and served a couple of real ales as well as the usual range of beverages. The bar itself is very nice and staff were very friendly. After being shown to our room in a complex out the back of the building we had a couple of pints in a snug with a real fire blazing... just noce for an Autumnal day. The room itself was clean and quiet with a nice ensuite and a good array of biscuits teas and coffees and plenty of milk too 🙂. Highly recommended.

Everything okay, but like others found the emergency lighting in the room too bright . Never known it in other hotels. However talking to someone staying elsewhere in Malton they had the same problem, so presume its a local requirement.

Room was tidy and comfortable, could hear the bar area outside window but was as expected. Bathroom was in real need of refurbishing. Lovely location in town, had a great time

Weekend away
We stayed here as we were visiting the food and drink festival. It was very central, and despite that the room was very quiet. We arrived earlier than the check in time but we were shown our room straight away. The owner and staff were all very helpful. The room had everything we needed. Wiykd go vack again.

great welcome taken to room lovley enterance hall. room very basic tiered need of full re furb more a £50 room than £80 but was clean. no radiator in bathroom. great location.

Beware security light
A lot was good, bed, shower, staff. Room small - no wardrobe, chest of drawers or space for suitcases. Big problem bright green security light floods the room all night and makes sleep difficult. Bring good eye masks (previous guests had tried to stick cardboard over the light)

Malton night out.
We enjoyed our stay at chapter 2 the only complaint would be the very bright green light on the emergency light in the bedroom, maybe nothing can be done but never had it that bright in any other hotel. The Hotel is well positioned in the town. Malton itself is a town worth visiting.

Friendly and welcoming
Really friendly staff, bar has good atmosphere and felt covid safe. Accomodstion is in an annex next to the pub with nice shared lounge area but Bedrooms are in need of a refurb but comfy.

We’ll be back
Very comfortable overnight stay. The staff were very friendly and efficient and it’s conveniently placed for all the shops and restaurants in the town. One thing to be aware of - the steps to the bedroom accommodation (apart from Room 1) are quite steep. Even so, will definitely stay there again on our next visit. - unless they’re booked up of course!

Central for an event in Malton just across the square. Surprised when we arrived, as though not expecting us. Lots of ‘it is forbidden’ in accommodation info - appreciate there are things owners would not like but sounds fierce £80 feels overpriced without breakfast (no kitchen). WiFi didn’t work - wrong password in info - went to bar to ask & my phone taken from me to sort. I really don’t like ppl doing that - I am not incapable, just need to be provided with the correct info. It was connected to bar WiFi, different router / password, so I had to sort it out again anyway! Steep stairs up to 1st floor (ok for us, but not everyone) Lots of friendly places for breakfast close by & a great pub (New Malton Inn) with fab food & lovely friendly staff

Great value for the money.
Came back to Malton for a family funeral. Lived in the area when I was young so know it well. Chapter Two was great, the staff were very friendly and helpful and our room was comfortable and clean. Great shower and comfortable beds. The location was perfect too.
