I enjoyed the beatles mural. Room was very nice and confortable. Pub attached is nice and does a good pint. Staff, Meg (I think) was really friendly.

Hi Peta, I'm so sorry to hear your did not have a good experience with us. As a small 19 bed boutique hotel our rooms building does not have a big check in area however we certainly do have a check in as Megan did take you through to our check in area which a private part of the building for hotel guests. This is where Megan went through the check in process with you to be able to access the room. Taxi's can be ordered with our hotel staff who are available to assist when needed! I do hope other than the above that you had a comfortable stay in our rooms

Nice location for going to football. Liked the receptionist who was most friendly and accommodating. They'd had an issue with our bath prior (which didn't really affect us or our stay) but gave us a complimentary bucket of beers for the inconvenience. No real issue other than if you are on the first floor you can still slightly hear the people in the bar (maybe that was just because they were singing after the game) - even then it wasn't enough to stop us going off to sleep.

Hi Judith, It is really disappointing to see your review and your score regarding your recent stay with us at the Phoenix. As explained upon check in, we take a pre-authorisation of £150 which is a hold on the amount during your stay in the event of any incidentals / charges to the room or any other charges which may occur. When booking with us, this is advertised as well as confirmed directly from ourselves via confirmation emails etc. I have looked into your pre-auth and can confirm that the deposit which was held was reversed as per our terms and conditions on the day of your departure. As this is held this does not debit from your account, this sits as a pending transaction during the stay and once returned goes back to your available balance and any sign of the hold disappears as no physical transaction has taken place. Rooms are beautiful, clean and beds are comfy, shower was powerful and hot could be changed if you need to. Although you have a bar attached to the hotel you don’t hear much noise. Staff left you alone but we’re there if needed and we’re very friendly They had parking outside but it is very limited. Easy to get a taxi into Liverpool city centre as the hotel have a button you can press located in the bar. The hotel do ask for in my opinion a very high deposit when you arrive which is refundable which I don’t think is very good as you the rooms are not that cheap anyway and if your having a weekend away may eat into your budget

Would have been good to know in advance that some of the rooms were basement rooms with no windows - 3 out of 4 of the rooms we booked were this way. The rest of the room was nice but was slightly spoiled by the lack of windows.

Can't wait to return! Five Stars +
This is exactly what we expected a British town to be: friendly, cute, fun and charming. The Phoenix is all that. Meg was a pure delight when checking us in and Liam the bartender who everyone wants! Witty, chatty and lively. We left feeling like we spent time with family and can't wait to return. Regarding the room, the check-in was seamless, the free drink on arrival was superb and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud.

Ok if you can get a bargain.
The girl during check in was a little abrupt to start but she was young and sid get better during our conversation. A lot of door banging through the night and the room.got hot as only one window and it only opens a little bit as we were on the top floor. Otherwise a decent cheapish overnight stay using some tesco vouchers and we managed to park out the front.

Fantastic staff, couldn’t do enough, especially the girl who booked us in. Sorry forgot the name but she had a couple of tattoos. Went above and beyond to make our evening go smoothly. Rooms were clean and decorated well. Fairly small rooms but ok for a night or two. We would stay again.

Underwhelming - book elsewhere
Our stay was underwhelming. The room was clean and well presented. However our deluxe room was small to the point we asked staff to confirm it was actually a deluxe and not a standard. The hotel page and their own website don't mention that it is above a pub. The website states there is a 'residents bar' but this is a pub that is open to the general public, the in room info says the bar closes at 10.30pm but actually people dodnt leave until just before midnight. Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the outside tables so it was very noisy and you could also smell all the cigarette smoke despite the window being closed. Amenities wise there was little in the room other than the TV, there were no hooks to hang coats or towells and no shelf in the bathroom to put toiletries. There was a panel on the wall for air con/room temperature but this didnt work. The matress was VERY firm we have a firm matress at hime but this was so hard neither of us slept well at all. Staff were not visibly around in the mornings and only on the bar in the evenings so we didnt have an opportunity to raise this in the day before we went out.

Absolutely amazing hidden gem just outside town centre. We have our own mini bus business and will be using The Phoenix from Now on. Marie and staff amazing and nothing was too much bother. Beautiful rooms, amazing wee pub with live singer, who was brilliant and staff and locals alike so friendly. Already have two more weekends booked.

The place with personality
This hotel has quite the character and everything else as well. Originally I picked To stay here because I wanted Something outside of the typical hotel. I wanted Something with flare and personality and this hotel was all of these and more. It’s pretty quiet until Friday or Saturday when the pub is busy but everyone was super nice and accommodating. Thanks again for a great stay

All the gear no idea
This hotel has so much potential, the pictures and decor are fab however the service and hotel it’s self is nothing like what I expected! Check-in was shocking staff didn’t know what they were doing nothing about our stay was explained to us! The room was definitely not a deluxe double it’s was small unfinished and missed items that were included in the description like a fridge,iron and slippers. The room as well as a lot of the hotel had unfinished things like lights that hadn’t been fitted! I feel like this hotel will be better however it just isn’t there yet they should have waited till it was! Finally checkout just finished it off no staff were to be seen to check us out even the on site builders couldn’t find anyone and we ended up handing our key card to them as we needed to leave! Honestly for the way they sell and described the hotel it was nothing like I expected! All the decor but no idea how to run a nice hotel

Hi Abby, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I would like to start off by apologising in regards to your check in. We have new staff who are learning the systems on our quieter days as the best way to learn is to be with the guest. As stated on our platforms Irons are available on request and other items such as slippers will vary depending on your room type but can also be requested. I can see from the system that you was allocated a Deluxe Jacuzzi room, all of our rooms do vary in size and this is one of our most requested rooms. I can confirm that the light fittings throughout the hotel are complete and finsihed, we do have different unique bedside light styles. As advertised we have limited front desk hours on site therefore we operate a self check out Monday - Friday with a check out box by the Hotel entrance which can be seen as you pass. This is to limit contact between staff and customers and to offer the most safe environment as possible for our guests. It is unfortunate that you feel this way about the service of the hotel, the hotel has been trading for key workers for the past year and we have been improving our amenities, rooms and services at every opportunity while also being able to accommodate our key workers, essential stays and leisure guests. Thank you for your review, we will certainly use this to help us improve our services

Pleasant stay in the end
When we turned up to the Phoenix Hotel, the Phoenix pub directly underneath was full of customers outside, the music was loud and there was a lot of rowdiness. We turned to park on the street but was unable to due to the amount of people from the pub on the street. We immediately looked at cancelling our reservation because of the noise and we realised the on site parking was a small space directly outside the pub where there was a lot of drunk people hanging around. We decided just to have a look in the room before making our decision. There wasn’t anyone in the hotel to talk to so we waited at the pub. This took a while as it was busy and nobody came to serve us for a while. £150 deposit was requested upon arrival. We then went into the hotel which was decorated well and looked very clean. Our room was also clean, cosy and had a great interior. We had access to Netflix which was a nice touch, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was spacious. To be picky there wasn’t any room to put toothpaste etc on the side of the sink and there was nowhere to hang a towel. In the morning we just left a keycard and didn’t see a member of staff since checking in, which was very rushed as she wanted to get back to the pub ASAP. It was a 10 minute drive to the centre so convenient and also it mentions on the website they offer a free Uber to the centre, although we didn’t want to disturb the staff so didn’t use If we hadn’t seen the pub upon arrival it would have been a great stay

Dodgy location. Stunning room
when i pulled up i thought my van was gona get stolen during the night. The inside of the hotel is lovely though and my room on the top floor was stunning and very comfy. But no tv reception or wifi.

We are located just outside of the city centre with our location being in a great area with very kind and approachable locals. Our building is secured with cctv and a nights team that regularly patrol the car park and building. I do apologise for the issue regarding the tv reception and wifi, this has now been resolved. Customer service was fantastic, very friendly staff. Quick check in and express check out. Room was very modern and very clean and had good facilities. Bed was uncomfortable as hard mattress, but once you get past this, a good overall sleep as black out curtains and quiet in the morning. Don't go on the weekend if youre trying to relax and have a good night sleep but this hotel is ideal if you're staying to go out partying in the city centre or else where, as the pub downstairs has very loud music on until late at night but not an issue if you're there to party as we were. A few plumbing problems as no hot water one of the mornings, but staff were quick to fix this and not bothered by this, very helpful. Lots of plug sockets in our room with usb pots also which was great. Free parking right outside the hotel which is convenient, and also very cheap drinks in the pub downstairs!

Perfect stay.Will come back.
Was very surprised on the overall experience. The hostess was very kind. The room is exactly how the photos looked, very posh and neat throughout. Good pressure on the showers, shower gel and shampoo was good. Lots of space to put luggage and bed was spacious and comfy. Book here before the price of room increases as it definitely will, once it gets multiple reviews.

Unfortunately, doors being loud when guests are entering and leaving their rooms is out of our control and is common within a busy hotel. Parking is outside of the hotel but had no issues with parking, pub is OK but gets lively at night, stayed in room 4 had no issues with noise. Really quiet and rooms were in excellent condition. Only downside was no food but they allowed you to order a takeaway and eat in the bar, really good service and t a great price.
