Watch out for hidden charges at check-in. £50 taken from my bank immediately on top of the room charge. If I wanted to purchase anything extra, I would have paid at the time of purchasing. Now having to wait for a refund. This was not transparent enough in the T&Cs even within the confirmation email. Lifts old and creaky despite £3m upgrade, shower tiles grubby, mini bar only stocked water and wasn’t clear if this was complimentary, broken usb port by the bedside and heating system didn’t work as only blowing out cold air (no extra blankets in the room). Not enough towels for two women to dry their hair and body without using the hand towel too. £5 service charge for room service unless you were sensible and read all the in-room gubbins and saw the discount code - just don’t charge it in the first place! Prices were also out of date on the room service menu in the room. Didn’t think much of the cheese and biscuits either as two of the cheeses lacked flavour and we got a few apple slices rather than the whole apple sliced for £13! I know this is a 4* hotel but it’s the little things that matter and these could be improved. Breakfast served until 10am but by 9:30, the hot buffet was lacking and had to be refilled multiple times: eggs congealed and some items luke warm.
