Hideaway Haven by the Lake is a cozy suite that offers a unique blend of comfort and serenity. Nestled in the heart of Lake Cowichan, guests enjoy picturesque views and immediate access to outdoor activities. The suite is thoughtfully furnished, with special touches like a welcome fruit bowl for stays over three nights. We're family and pet-friendly, and our commitment to conscientious hosting ensures a memorable stay for everyone.

The space

Nestled in the heart of Lake Cowichan and just one minute from the lake itself, our guest suite offers a cozy, welcoming retreat. Thoughtfully maintained and in excellent condition, the suite provides comfort and charm for your stay.

Please note that our family of four—two young children and a friendly golden retriever—lives upstairs. We kindly ask that you respect quiet hours between 11pm–7am. While we take great care in our cleaning practices, guests with dog allergies should be mindful that the entryway is shared. This is a warm, lived-in home that reflects the joy and energy of family life.

The suite spans the entire basement level, offering a spacious and private environment. The bedroom features a queen-sized bed, side tables, and a large dresser. The living room includes ample seating with a theater-style couch, a hide-a-bed couch, an additional queen-sized bed, and a single cot.

Upon request, we can also provide a queen-sized air mattress, allowing us to accommodate up to six guests.

The highlight of your stay? Private access to your very own sauna and hot tub—perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure. We look forward to hosting you and wish you a truly enjoyable stay.

Guest access

Upon arrival, you will have a parking spot closest to the door (not directly in front of the covered area). Make sure you are facing the front door—likely on the right side of my green truck. A lockbox with your key is at the front door. If you have not received your combination, please message me directly.

Upon arrival, retrieve your keys from the lockbox. The front door and suite may already be unlocked—feel free to enter. There are stairs leading up to our main dwelling. The door directly in front of you with the welcome sign is your suite. Please refrain from entering the door on the right, as that is my counseling office.

Bear Safety:
We are located in beautiful bear country, and sightings are common. Please do not leave food or beverages in your vehicle. We cannot assume liability for any damage caused by wildlife.

Occupancy Details:
We believe 4 people can stay comfortably. You are welcome to bring up to 6 guests, though it will be a tighter fit.

Bookings include up to 4 guests. Additional guests beyond 4 are subject to an extra fee per person, per night ($100). This helps cover increased usage, cleaning, and amenities so we can continue providing a high-quality stay.

Ant Notice (Updated April 3rd, 2025):
With warmer weather, ants may become active. We have a professional prevention plan in place and use discreet, non-toxic traps. If you notice any, please let us know right away so we can address it promptly.

Parking Information:
Each booking includes one parking space. Please contact us in advance if additional parking is needed.

Door Security:
Please ensure both the suite door and front door are firmly closed to latch securely.

Basement Temperature:
The suite may feel cooler as the thermostat is upstairs. The furnace may produce a gentle hum. If adjustments are needed, just text us.

Hot Tub Guidelines

Before use: Please shower beforehand to maintain cleanliness

Age requirement: 18+ only

Operation: Hold the lock symbol to unlock, then press the bubble button

The temperature is preset—please do not adjust settings

If you'd like a full water change, request at least 24 hours in advance

Sauna Usage

Instructions are located inside the sauna and in your welcome packet. Use is limited to guests 18+. Reach out if you need assistance.

Weights & Outdoor Gym

Available for guest use. Guests must be 18+ and sign a liability waiver before use.

In Case of Malfunction

If the hot tub or any amenity has issues, please text us right away. We maintain everything regularly, but occasional maintenance may be required. While we aim to provide all amenities as listed, unforeseen issues can arise. We appreciate your understanding.
