THE VILLA: Casa Bonita, situated on a cliff top on the western Algarve coast, is a magnificent 4 bedroom luxury, fully air-conditioned villa which affords panoramic sea views. From all rooms in the villa is a breath-taking, uninterrupted view of the coast from the cliffs at Lagos to the picturesque fishing village of Burgau.
The house lies just metres from the coast with access to a clifftop walk which runs for many kilometres along the coastline, taking you from the house east to the beach at Luz within 20 min walk and to Burgau to the west in around 40 mins. Finished to an extremely high specification this property is privately owned and self-contained within the seafront development of Porto Dona Maria. The villa has paved terraces running the length of the front to make the most of the stunning views with 2 of the upstairs bedrooms also having their own large balconies. The pool deck area enables guests to make the most of the magnificent views whilst soaking up the sun or enjoying the sunset over a glass of wine.
AROUND THE VILLA: On all sides of the villa are planted gardens with a shaded car port at the front of the house. This is accessed through remote control electric gates. There is ample further car parking for a number of cars at the front of the villa. Porto Dona Maria is a beautiful resort with reception and 24 hour security. It has been built with a strong environmental focus. Great care has been taken in ensuring that the villas blend into their natural environment with each of the villas being built using natural products, sourced locally where possible. Casa Bonita features handmade Portuguese tiles around the house and pool area, and local timbers in the floors, kitchen and storage. The planting within the gardens is sympathetic to the surrounding landscape and uses flora natural to the local area. The location of the resort within the Western Algarve Conservation area means that beautiful walks lead all directions from the villa, along the cliff tops and surrounding countryside.
GROUND FLOOR: On this level is the spacious, light and airy lounge with comfortable leather sofas and armchairs providing seating for 8 people. The lounge has a 32” screen television with satellite TV providing a range of UK & international channels, DVD player & a glass fronted wood burning stove.
Double width patio doors open onto a terrace overlooking the pool area with truly magnificent sea views. On this terrace guests can relax in the shade from the mid-day sun whilst enjoying the view or watching the kids play in the large 10m x 4m swimming pool.
The lounge is open plan to the dining room which features an impressive dining table with seating for 8 people. It has access to another outdoor shaded terrace with a further table seating 8 for alfresco dining. All of the outdoor terraces are lit to enable you to make the most of your time outdoors in the pleasant Algarve climate.
The hall leads to the fabulous modern well-equipped kitchen with large fridge/freezer, integrated microwave & oven, dishwasher and gas burner hob with built in cherry wood units providing excellent storage. The kitchen has all appliances you would expect including double toaster, coffee maker, kettle, crockery & cutlery for 16 guests and enough saucepans and ovenware to cater for meals for a large group. The kitchen has direct access through double patio doors to its own sheltered terrace and the BBQ area.
Views from all the outdoor terraces are stunning, and all of the rooms make the most of them with full length patio doors and additional windows making sure you can appreciate the location no matter where you are.
Also on this level: the utility room comprising washing machine, tumble drier, iron, ironing board & other cleaning equipment; and a separate cloakroom comprising toilet and wash hand basin.
Each of the rooms is equipped with its own individually remote controlled air-conditioning units (extra charge), although the design of the house means that the rooms stay perfectly cool without the need for air-conditioning for most of the year.
FIRST FLOOR: The first floor comprises the four spacious bedrooms. Each of the bedrooms has its own luxury bathroom, with a further cloakroom on the ground floor, making the house perfect for large families or groups to share.
The magnificent master suite with king bed has its own private balcony with stunning views along the Algarve coast, perfect for enjoying a lazy breakfast in the beautiful Algarve sunshine. The large patio doors to the front & windows to the side ensure this view can be appreciated from both inside & out.
The master suite has its own walk in dressing room with plenty of storage space which leads to a luxury ensuite bathroom. The bathrooms are beautifully finished, each with a feature wall using local Portuguese hand-made ceramic tiles. The master features magnificent double sinks with marble surround, well-lit mirrors and a large walk-in 'rain' style shower cubicle. It also has a separate bath with overhead shower, toilet and bidet. Each of the bathrooms has a heated towel rail and towels are provided for our guests' use.
The second master bedroom has a king size bed, built in storage and an ensuite bathroom. It has views out to sea from its “Juliet” balcony & to the east along the coast towards Lagos. The bathroom includes a bath with overhead power shower, large sink with marble surround, well-lit mirror and toilet.
The third bedroom has twin beds and also has its own private balcony with seating to enjoy the same stunning views towards Lagos and out to sea. This bedroom also has built in storage and its own bathroom which comprises a large walk-in 'rain' style shower cubicle, sink with marble surround, well-lit mirror and toilet.
A few steps lead to the final spacious twin bedroom which also has built in storage and an ensuite comprising large walk-in 'rain' style shower, sink with marble surround, well-lit mirror and toilet. This bedroom has views towards the west and of the evening sunset.
All the bedrooms feature beautiful hardwood floors & are tastefully decorated with ample linens & towels.
OUTSIDE: Whilst the inside of the villa is beautifully presented with all the facilities you need to make the most of your holiday it's the outside that we think you'll fall in love with! The views from all the terraces, balcony & pool deck are stunning and take in a panorama from the cliffs at Lagos, along the coast to the beach at Luz, the clifftop walk in the Western Algarve Conservation Park and finally west towards Burgau.
There are 8 reclining sun loungers available at Casa Bonita, along with 4 small side tables meaning you can set yourself up for a day of sun and relaxation around the spacious pool deck. The pool itself then provides the perfect refreshing dip when the day heats up and at 10m x 4m is large enough for the most avid of swimmers to get in a few lengths before lunch on the dining terrace. We think the villa has a perfect combination of shady terraces to seek shelter from the mid-day sun and other open space for the whole group to enjoy the year round Algarve sunshine.
The sheltered dining terrace with table seating 8 enables you to enjoy the sunset over a glass of wine, while the lighting on each of the terraces means you can stay out in the balmy Algarve climate late into the evening.
Outside the kitchen, along the edge of the garden, is the barbeque area, housing a fantastic extra-large brick barbeque which means you can comfortably cater for all the party outdoors.
The upstairs balconies lead directly off the bedrooms and are each furnished with 2 comfortable wicker seats and side table. They get the sun from early in the morning and are perfect for breakfast with some freshly baked local bread and Portuguese produce from nearby Luz.

RESORT FACILITIES: Rental of Casa Bonita gives guests access to the many other facilities on the resort should you wish to use them, however most of our guests tell us they find they have everything they need in our own private villa! Onsite resort facilities include a large communal salt-water swimming pool and separate children’s pool; the poolside 'Cabana do Pescador' (Fisherman's Hut) which serves drinks, light meals and a variety of dishes, both inside the cafe and on the outside terraces every day (opening hours vary with the season and it is normally closed in Winter); “L’Escargot” restaurant, featuring traditional Algarve dining with fresh local fish dishes as well as other tasty meat dishes, beautifully prepared starters and desserts. The resort also has a small driving range and putting green for extra practice before the course.
Nearby in Luz, the local supermarket Baptista is great, offering a fantastic selection of fresh fish, meat, breads and cakes. It has some lovely restaurants including our favourites Forta Eleza (Sunday jazz lunch), The Dolphin and Pastelaria Chicca.
