Das Hotel ist sehr gut. Allerding fand am Valentine´s Day (14. Februar) ein sehr lautes Konzert im Hotel statt. Die Bühne befand sich direkt unterhalb meines Zimmers. Das ist nicht akzeptabel.

Schöner Aufenthalt im Sonnet in Kalkutta
Das Hotel insgesamt ist super prima. Toll und zu empfehlen - ob single oder Familie. Das Personal geht immer auf alle Wünsche und Bitten des Gastes ein - stellt die Zufriedenheit jedes Gastes zu jeder Zeit sicher. Leider ist die Umgebung des Hotels für Europäer nicht so einfach - aber das ist in ganz Kalkutta so. Armut gibt es dort eben überall. Bettler jedoch gab es keine.

Gutes aber unspektakuläres Hotel
Das Sonnet ist eines der besten Hotels in Kalkutta. Die Anbindung an den Flughafen (ca. 20-30 min) und an den Bahnhof Howrah (ca. 1-1,5 Stunden) ist gut. Das Hotel liegt also für die Verhältnisse der Stadt zentral. Zum Hotel ist zu sagen dass die Leute dort wie nicht anders zu erwarten sehr freundlich sind. Man wird freundlich empfangen und standesgemäß mit Pagen aufs Zimmer gebracht. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und zweckmäßig eingerichtet. (großes, gemütliches King Size Bett). Im Hotel befindet sich ein durchschnittlich eingerichteter Fitnessraum und ein spärlicher Pool. Der versprochene Whirlpool ist die Blubberfunktion im kleinen Pool (2,5m *4m). Das Frühstückbuffet war ordentlich aber nicht außergewöhnlich. Die Minibar ist im übrigen bezahlbar. Habe für einen Softdrink unter einen Euro bezahlt. Für den Preis ist das Hotel eher unspektakulär. Ich würde beim nächsten Mal ein wenig mehr anlegen und im Hyatte (sehr orpulenter Schuppen) oder Taj Bengal einchecken. Wie ihr merkt ist dies nur ein Klagen auf hohem Niveau. Man kann es in diesem Hotel schon gut aushalten.

It was quite a nice hotel for not being a 5 star. Clean, tastefully decorated, big rooms, good size bathrooms. Service was good too.

Family visit to Kolkata
Hotel staff show a good service mentality - I wanted a slightly early check in and a late check out and they were accommodating. The only restaurant had a good buffet breakfast as well as options available right through the day. But one significant issue is the wifi quality - connectivity was very poor in my first 2 days (Almost non existent) and even after the technical team did some trouble shooting to improve things, the wifi kept dropping and there was a constant need to reconnect devices.

We stayed in Sonnet for multiple during our trip to India. Starting from management to all staff members be in the restaurant to doormen, everyone was extremely friendly and courteous. The rooms were clean and spacious and cleaning staff were always available in a moment’s notice. I was very impressed with the quick response and speed of execution.

The hotel needs renovation and they are doing that. The construction sound can be annoying. Some rooms are dated. Their staff is great and the food was great too. Breakfast is definitely VFM and ala-crate were done really well as per our special instructions. The area around the hotel has deteriorated in the past 5 years not the fault of the hotel tho but it’s a turn off.

This Hotel is very conveniently located close to transport, shopping, restaurants and offers a good dining and bar facility and Gym. The pool was closed due to covid-19 restrictions. The staff is really helpful. Conveniently located is a hospital next door where it was convenient to get a PCR test. The Hotel is however showing some wear and tear and needs some makeover.

I had paid for the stay through Expedia on 29th Jan, but the hotel said they did not receive the payment and made me pay again. I showed them the proof of my pay, but they do not care. What a shame, I trusted Expedia, but they used a third party to pay for the hotel and was not done. This is very bad, I checked the reviews before I signed up for the hotel, but still cant believe this. Very sad and unpleasant. Not sure will Expedia act on this matter with the hotel staff.

There was a party at the terrace of third floor, whose loud speakers disturbed entire half side of hotel till 11.30 PM. Booked a premium room in advance but they gave me an connecting room in which another bachelor party was going on, the hotel changed my room at 2 am when I literally shouted because I had to catch morning flight. Worst experience. Feeling cheated

I stayed with my family for 9 nights. The stay was good. The rooms were clean. The WiFi was reliable. It was a shame we couldn’t get a WiFi password for the entire stay. We had to ask for a new one everyday. We used the fitness room. The hotel supplied bottles of water daily. We used the pool everyday. My son cut his foot on something ? A broken tile or glass in the pool. The staff were very attentive when this happened. Unfortunately the (expensive) taxi we booked to take us back to the airport never turned up. It was a shame as it leaves us with a bad impression of the hotel.

Extremely helpful
I had my money stolen while visiting Belur Math and the hotel management on all levels were so helpful and kind and companied me through the difficult process of making a statement at the police station. Also for taking care of me by giving me room serve for the evening meal. A big thank you to everyone.
