Quiet Kohukohu

Quiet stay in old but quaint cottage. Enjoyed the hospitality of local shop/bar/cafe staff. So helpful and proud of what NZ has to offer. But, one never leaves enough time to fully enjoy the area!! Our loss.

Lovely comfortable place to stay.

Stayed over for 2 nights here, while attending a large family and community event re my brother who died in April. We were very comfortable here, and the cottage is very attractive, obviously historic. It was super-well equipped with everything you'd need. Easy access from the road, close to the Kohukohu village, and a clear view across the harbour in front. Thankyou for having us, we'd come again if the need or opportunity arose.

Little Piece of Paradise

Lovely, peaceful little cottage with everything you need. Great view of the Hokianga river. Fantastic new driveway, beautifully kept gardens. Have stayed here before and would definitely stay here again.

Relax in Hokianga

Peaceful stay in a beautiful cottage. Kohukohu is historic, quiet and totally charming. The cottage is so comfortable and spotless, everything is provided. The view over the harbour is delightful. Truly recommend for a relaxing getaway.

Kohukohu is nice

Unfortunately the cafe at Kohukohu has closed, so finding food for dinner was a bit of a challenge. The wood burner is great. Shower is basic. The neighbour mowed the lawns for about an hour and a half with a really noisy mower. This is not the fault of the owner.

A little touch of paradise

From the open communication with the owners prior to our stay to arriving and feeling immediately at home at this wonderful 140 year old cottage. Sitting on the front veranda each morning enjoying the wonderful view and a coffee started each day with a feeling of relaxed calmness. The facilities are great, well equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds and great selection of games to keep us entertained in the evenings. Our daily walk to the cafe, etc. enabled us to meet many locals and were certainly welcomed. Loved exploring the surrounding areas - so much natural beauty. Thank you

A wonderful place

We had a great time staying here, the cottage is very tidy and very well equipped (great collection of music and board games for example). We especially enjoyed exploring the nearby areas of the harbour with the provided kayak. The neighbours were lovely and the area is very quiet and relaxing. The hosts were a pleasure to deal with.

Some lucky team members got to stay in this tiny bit of paradise when up north on business. They raved about the location and the set up. So good I will be booking some time there myself when I am allowed across the border. Olivia and Dan were super hosts. Communication was excellent.

Heritage cottage with canoe

Loved the heritage cottage and the two verandas overlooking the harbour. We took the canoe out (only at high tide) & immensely enjoyed paddling along the shore to see wildlife. A local gave us some fresh caught snapper. Loved the heeitage trail & buildings.

Lovely old cottage!

We really enjoyed our family trip to the Hokianga. The cottage is very cute and had everything we needed. I’d certainly recommend it. Don’t expect great water pressure, but the air con was a relief in the very hot evenings. Kohukohu is a nice little village, though the car ferries to get over to Ranui were very full in peak summer, so we spent a lot of time waiting for the next one.

Great Place To Relax

Was a lovely little cottage. So peaceful. Was just what we needed for our 2 elderly that was with us for them to be able to rest and sit outside and look out at the water. A little bit of a drop for our 2 elderly from the living/ dining area to the kitchen. As a suggestion maybe look at a step you can place there. Other than that it is a fantastic little retreat. I would recommend this little gem and I would definitely stay again. Thank you to the hosts for everything provided, just fantastic.

Peace, quiet and views

A wonderful little cottage in this cute historical village. Be prepared for complete relaxation with native bush behind the property and the beautiful Hokianga Harbour out the front. Listen to bell-birds and tuis, read on the verandah and enjoy lying in bed watching the tide roll in and out. Comfy beds, walkable to the village and just down the road from the ferry. An absolute bonus that we could bring our dogs. Highly recommended.

A lovely long weekend!

I spent a very relaxing 4 nights at this lovely old cottage. Wonderfully cozy, in a perfect spot overlooking the harbour and a short walk to get a great coffee from the local cafe. Very comfortable bed and nice furnishings throughout. Thank you Glenda for checking in and saying hi, allowing Richie my dog to join me and providing all the essentials needed to feel very at home.
