The lake goes gold around eight o'clock in July, and from the ninth floor of Azure Palms you get the whole show. The pool glowing on the deck below, boats coming in, the mountains across the water turning that soft pink that only happens here.

You'll have spent the morning in the water, the afternoon in the sauna and the cold plunge, and an hour before dinner hitting balls in the golf simulator because it was too hot to do it outside. Tomorrow you'll do it again in a different order.

WELCOME TO AZURE PALMS

Azure Palms is a two-bedroom, two-bath home on the ninth floor of Tower Two at Aqua Waterfront Village, on the water in Kelowna's Resort District where Truswell meets the lake in the Lower Mission.

What makes it work is how little you have to plan. The water's out front. The resort floor is downstairs in your own building, and it's a serious one: pool, two hot tubs, outdoor sauna, cold plunge, two indoor golf simulators and a putting green, a two-storey fitness centre, a yoga and meditation room. You park once, underground, and you may not touch the car again until wine country calls.

Inside, it's bright and easy. Two proper queen bedrooms so nobody draws the short straw. Two full bathrooms so morning works for everyone. Air conditioning for the July afternoons that earn it, laundry in the unit so you pack light, and a balcony that looks straight down over the pool and west across Okanagan Lake — which is the side the sunset happens on.

A golf trip that doesn't depend on the weather. Two indoor simulators and a putting green in your own building, plus Harvest, Gallagher's Canyon and Kelowna Golf & Country Club within a short drive. Play the real thing in the morning, keep swinging in the evening.

A small family that wants the water without the drive. Out the lobby and down to the lake in the morning, back for lunch and air conditioning, out again at four when the heat breaks.

A wine weekend. Three of the Okanagan's landmark wineries sit within fifteen minutes down Lakeshore Road. Leave the car parked and book a tour.

Anyone bringing the dog. Dogs are genuinely welcome in the home, and the building has a dog wash for sandy paws on the way back in. Read the pet section below — the shared amenity areas are people-only.

Shoulder-season and ski travellers. Come snow season this is a calm lake-district basecamp with Big White about an hour up the hill, and the hot tubs and cold plunge waiting when you get back.

Two bedrooms, both real, both private, both with a queen bed.

Primary bedroom. A queen with fresh linens and room-darkening window coverings, because Okanagan mornings arrive early and you're on vacation.

Second bedroom. A second queen. This is the one that makes the trip work for two couples or for parents travelling with older kids, since it's a proper bedroom with a door and not an afterthought.

Two full bathrooms. Both full, both with plush towels and toiletries provided. Two baths for four guests is the quiet luxury nobody advertises and everybody notices on the third morning.

A full kitchen with full-size appliances and a dishwasher, set up for the way people actually cook on vacation. Which is to say: a real dinner in twice, patios the rest of the week.

Cooking basics and cookware are here. So are wine glasses, which matter more than usual in this town. Coffee runs two ways — a Keurig for the person who's up at six and wants one cup fast, and a French press for the person who wants to make a project of it.

Bring back a bottle from CedarCreek, pick up something from the Save-On five minutes away, and eat with the lake in the window.

Bright and open, with a smart TV and the balcony doors right there. In practice this is the room where wet towels get draped, cards get played, and somebody suggests one more walk down to the water before dinner.

High-speed Wi-Fi throughout, fast enough to stream and to check in with the office if you must.

The water. Okanagan Lake is right out front, with a waterfront pathway for morning walks and evening strolls. The shoreline directly in front of the building is still in its natural state while the village around it is being built, so it's a place to walk and watch the light rather than a groomed beach day. For sand, washrooms, a playground and volleyball courts, Boyce-Gyro Beach Park and Rotary Beach Park are a short walk south along Lakeshore.

☆☆ BRINGING THE DOG ☆☆

Dogs are welcome at Azure Palms, and not grudgingly. Up to two pets, and the building has a dog wash station — the single most useful amenity a lakefront building can offer when your dog has just discovered the water. The waterfront pathway makes for easy morning and evening walks straight out the lobby.

One thing to know before you book: the building's shared amenity areas are people-only, so the pool deck, gym and lounges aren't dog territory. The dog wash is the exception. Kelowna's public beaches also allow leashed dogs on the pathways rather than on the sand, so plan swims accordingly.

☆☆ CLEANLINESS & SAFETY ☆☆

Azure Palms is professionally cleaned between every stay by our local team, with fresh linens and towels each time.

Check-in is contactless. You enter the building through ButterflyMX and the unit through a smart lock with your own code, so you arrive on your schedule with nobody to meet. There are no cameras or recording devices anywhere inside the home.

This is a quiet residential resort building. No parties or events, and please keep the balcony and hallways neighbourly.

Pets are welcome in the home but aren't permitted in the shared amenity areas — the dog wash is the one exception.

One assigned secure underground parking stall is included; we'll send the stall number with your check-in details. Parkade height limit is 6 feet 8 inches.
