Zentral in Thamel gelegenes Hotel mit internationalen Flair, wunderschönen Garten, sehr reichhaltigen Frühstück, Leseecke und kleinen Shops. Ist nicht ganz günstig, aber wegen der Lage ideal zum Shoppen und zum Ausgehen. Ich würde es jederzeit weiterempfehlen. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt.

Perfect. Very nice big clean room with private balcony overlooking the beautiful hotel garden mith garden restaurant. All necessary facilities . Coffe/tea meker with enough teebags/instant coffe, two bottles of water dayly. Refrigerator, big TV flatscreen, acceptable WiFi connection, Air condition. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Rezeption sehr unfreundlich, und wenig hilfsbereit
Ich habe nicht das Deluxe Zimmer mit Gartenblick bekommen welches ich für viel Geld gebucht habe. Sondern ein Standard was noch nicht gereinigt war, als ich es bekommen habe. Die Heizung war kaputt und es war sehr laut. Habe mich dann beschwert und wollte in das Zimmer wechseln welches ich gebucht hatte. Wurde an der Rezeption auf den nächsten Tag verwiesen, am nächsten Tag wurde mir dann mitgeteilt die Uhrzeit für den Zimmerwechsel wäre zu spät 10.30 Uhr. Da mein altes Zimmer ja noch für den neuen Gast gesäubert werden müsse?! Mein Zimmer wurde die ganzen fünf Nächte meines Aufenthaltes nicht gereinigt. Kein Toilettenpapier mehr! Mülleimer voll.... Frühstück zwar inklusive aber sehr dreckig. Bei Fragen zu Thamel und dem Rücktransport zum Flughafen wird man sofort an das angeschlossene Tekking Center geschickt, der aber nur dann freundlich Antwortet wenn er daran Geld verdient. Ich konnte dann doch noch nach laut starker Diskussion das Zimmer wechseln und die neuen Zimmer sind sehr gepflegt.

Sehr gute Lage. Unzuverlässige Reservierung der Zimmer. Die Rezeption scheint routinemäßig Doppelreservierugen vorzunehmen und die Touristen an ein beachbaetes Hotel "auszulagern". Sonst schöner Gastgarten und Garten. Flughafenshuttle ist nur als pick up vom International Airport inkludiert.

Ruheoase inmitten des Trubels
Zunächst wurden wir,wie bereits in Tripadvisor beschrieben, trotz der Buchung an ein benachbartes Hotel verwiesen ( offensichtlich Doppelbuchung). Auf nochmaliges Nachfragen schien man einen Irrtum in der Schreibweise meines Namens bemerkt zu haben und wir bekamen das gebuchte Zimmer im ersten Stock. Sehr zu empfehlen ist das Zimmer 205, mit relativ neuem Bad und glattem Holzfußboden und Doppelbett. Das Hotel ist perfekt in Thamel gelegen. Trotzdem bietet das Hotel durch die Gärten eine angenehme Rückzugsmöglichkeit vom Trubel der Straße. Wenn man das gebuchte Zimmer bekommt so ist das Hotel durchaus empfehlenswert.

Sehr schlechter Service
Trotz 6-monatiger Vorauszahlung von 2 Nächten im Zimmer mit 'garden view', war bei unserer Ankunft das Hotel ausgebucht und lediglich ein Standardzimmer zur Verfügung gestellt. Der versprochene Zimmerwechsel für den Tag danach war auch nicht möglich! Wir haben in Nepal nur tolle Erfahrungen mit sehr freundlichen Menschen gemacht - außer im guest house Kathmandu! NIE WIEDER!

Jedes Telefon - das ich gar nicht führen konnte, da keine Verbindung zustande kam, wurde verrechnet
Neben dem , dass das Hotel äusserst lärmig war, haben Wünsche des Gastes keinen Platz. Ich habe ca. 1.200 R für nicht zustande gekommene Telefonate bezahlt, mit der Begründung, die Verb indung wäre hergestellt gewesen, obwohl ich mit meinem Mann, der Geburtstag hatte, nicht sprechen konnte. Entnervt habe ich mich schliesslich nach draussen gewandt und siehe da, die Verbindung kam zustande für ganze 80 R. Im Hotel bezahlte ich pro nicht zustandegekommener Verbindung 120 R. Ich wollte michgt dann beschweren, aber der Hotelmanager war nicht da????? M i s e r a b e l, mehr ist dazu nicht zu sagen.

Sehr zentrales Hotel in der Altstadt
Das KGH ist eine Oase in der quirligen Altstadt mit Zimmern in unterschiedlicher Qualität und Preisen. Wir hatten ein delux-Zimmer mit Klima und Blick auf den wunderschönen Garten, was für ein 2*-Hotel und schon etwas abgewohnter Zimmereinrichtung schon ein wenig teuer war. Aber Lage und freundlicher Service wogen das wieder auf.

Eine Oase der Ruhe und ziemlich frischen Luft, sobald man das Tor durchschritten hat. Dort erholt man sich vom Lärm, Chaos und der Drecksluft der Altstadt, die aber direkt vor dem Tor beginnt. Kellner manchmal etwas lahm, aber im Rahmen.

Ok, this is hard to write because it is a beautiful property! Character in abundance ! Well trained staff ! Great welcome and my room was excellent perceived value for money ! Food for lunch and dinner was served fresh and at the correct temperature! Now the negatives ! My room was terribly noisy through badly fitting windows with zero insulation between room walls and the ceiling ! All the early evening was clip clop of people walking ! Not other fault of either the people just poor design with the floorings used and the echo off the walls Then between 1am and 3am a large party of people sounded like 20-30 arrived and made there ways to there rooms with suitcases clanking and raised voices and slamming doors ! Now whenever I have checked in at those hours in other properties I was reminded to be quiet and respect the other guests ! In lots of oversea hotels I was given a card in my language to make sure I understood ! So I maybe got 3 hours sleep as I had a 6am check out to catch my flight out of country ! I truly home when you perform another renovation of the rooms you consider noise insulation! Will I be back ! Yes I will as your property was outstanding in the visual sense! Hopefully the nighttime people checking are more respectfull! Thank you Gavin young

I stayed here for 2 nights before and 1 night after a trekking expedition. It’s my first time in Kathmandu, so nothing to compare it to, but nice and convenient in the middle of Thamel. Hotel is pretty clean, the staff are really helpful. I was able to leave a bag at the hotel whilst away trekking and the staff booked a taxi to the airport for me.

The property has a wonderful garden where all can share, it is centrally located in Thamel, and the hotel is gated at both ends giving a sense of great security. I am at the room which can be improved to give it a modern facility. Overall it has a much better condition than many hotels in Thamel

Very nice place to stay in the heart of the tourist district (Thamel) but an oasis from the noise and hustle out on the street. Rooftop lounge has a terrific view of the city, especially as the sun goes down.

The original KGH is now a distant memory
Good old KGH remains my favourite place in Kathmandu. It went through an overdue renovation recently and unfortunately it lost a bit of its soul in the process. What remains though is a great hotel, fantastic location, nice rooms and the garden remains a great meeting and dining place.

Visited 2x times & despite email from MGT - was not picked up. Stranded. Also taxi to airport out of pocket & varies (I paid different amount then friend who left latter).

If home is where the heart is, then consider Kathmandu Guest House your Nepali home. The energy is amazing. The Garden was designed by the same architect as Garden of Dreams and it is truly a wonderful dream to explore and settle into the endless, wonderful corners. The staff is warm, authentic, helpful, and a community- dedicated to top-notch hospitality and the well-being of all guests. The rooms are charming, comfortable, with oversized balconies and hot water- always. The food is delicious. Everything will be done to accommodate and please guests, you will find peace in the garden and/or make new like-minded friends, and - in all honesty- it will be hard to leave. A most generous stay that encompasses the best of Nepal. Couldn't recommend enough. An experience. An institution. The best of memories. Authentic Nepali magic. And visit MONA- a museum of Nepali Art on the grounds.

A Thamel Classic
A classic of Thamel, located in the midst of the tourist section, KGH offers a quiet refuge when you need to get out of the chaos. The buffet breakfast was better many we’ve had while doing the standard US chain motels ‘breakfast included’ buffets; real food, not processed. Great coffee too! Stayed here several times since 1991 and it keeps getting better!

All good except an improvement of the food area
Located in the center of tourist area with many choices of restaurants and shops. Popular to anyone in that area enabling an easy returning back to the hotel in case you have lost your way. The overall condition and service are good except that the dinner area may be too cold in the winter time. Suggest to install warmers in the food area to keep both the food and guests in a warm environment.

The staff here are extremely helpful and friendly- they assisted with everything we needed to make a work trip run smoothly. The location is good. Beautiful gardens to relax from the busyness of Thamel.
