Gut: Sauberkeit, Personal & Service und Zustand der Unterkunft
Good hotel but they don't read booking requests.
After getting an extremely noisy room last time where I couldn't sleep much, it got a little bit better this time. However, when I request a "quiet room" in the booking and get the one next to the elevator, I wonder whether they don't read requests at all or just ignore them knowingly.
Besides the noise problems, the rooms are not very big but well equipped for a relaxing stay.
Their breakfast buffet is one of the best in Taiwan (as long as you ignore the Western food) and served until 10. You can stay in the room for longer but buffet will be removed right at that time.
All day long you can get free drinks (including excellent tea), good ice cream and not very good cakes.
They offer 3 free laundry machines including detergent and 3 dryers as well. Be aware that the dryers don't work too well; you shouldn't put very much in and always let it run for 140 minutes.
Free bicycle rental is available too but I didn't try, they're way too small for me.
Shopping: Just across the street is a 24h supermarket with lots of non-daily stuff. 7-11 for food is around the corner 50m away. About 100m away are cheap massage shops. Liouhe night market is nearby as well. Walking to MRT Formosa Boulevard takes about 10 minutes on a wide sidewalk (well usable with wheels on your luggage - not very common in Taiwan).
Generally I'd recommend the hotel after 5 stays. Not sure however whether I'll return after the recent noise problems (didn't happen during my first 3 stays).
