A Stunning Island with Room for Improvement â Honest Review of Kandima Maldives
We recently stayed at Kandima Maldives and, while the island itself is absolutely stunning and the surroundings nothing short of paradise, there were unfortunately several aspects of our stay that left us feeling disappointed â especially considering the amount we spent.
Letâs start with the positives:
The setting is truly breathtaking â turquoise waters, white sands, and beautifully maintained grounds. Our accommodation was comfortable and well-designed, and the staff were generally friendly and professional. The food was delicious, with a good variety across restaurants, and the resort offered a good mix of activities and relaxation.
However, as beautiful as the island is, there are definitely areas where Kandima falls short â especially when it comes to value for money and customer experience.
Firstly, everything is priced without tax and service charges. Youâll be quoted a price, but then a 10% tax and a non-negotiable 16% service charge are added on top â which means youâre paying an additional 26% on everything. This significantly inflates costs.
We were on a bed and breakfast package and in hindsight, we really should have opted for all-inclusive. Prices on the island are extortionate â $9 for a Coke, $9++ for a beer, and simple lunches or dinners quickly rack up. We ended up spending close to $3,000 just on food and drinks over the course of our stay. When we enquired about switching
