wunderschöne Lage
Für rauchende Gäste nicht zu empfelen .Nirgens ausserhalb des Hauses gibt es irgend wo ein Aschenbescher . Man hat die Wal , die Kippen in die Natur zu schmeissen , oder diese Kippen zurück ins Zimmer mitzunehmen und da in einem Plasticksäcklein im Kericht zu entsorgen so wie ich es gemacht habe. Leider kommt auch diese Variante absolut nicht gut an. Mein 6 tägiger Aufentalt wurde am letzten Tag mit einem Brief im Zimmer abgerundet , dass ich das Rauchen im Zimmer unterlassen soll ect. Habe mich sehr geärgert und klargestellt dass ich nie geraucht habe im Zimmer. also liebe Rauchende Reisende , in diesem Hotel sind Raucher nicht wirklich erwünscht .

Plüschig und altmodisch
Von aussen macht das Hotel einen guten Eindruck, innen ist die Zeit stehengeblieben. Das angebotene Doppelzimmerchen war für 2 Erwachsene ein Witz, es war nicht mal ausreichend Platz, um beide Koffer auf dem Boden zu öffnen. Kein Hinweis des Veranstalters auf die Grösse dieser Besenkammer. Frühstück und Bar waren trotz überhöhter Getränkepreise ok. Wir sind schon ziemlich enttäuscht, am letzten Tag unserer Rundreise noch diese negative Erfahrung zu machen.

Terrible street
Wenn dieser von Schlaglöchern übersäte Schotterweg, der zum Hotel führt, nicht gewesen wäre...ja dann wäre wirklich alles perfekt gewesen. Selbst der Rauchmelder hat sehr gut funktioniert am sehr frühen Morgen...Juchhu !

Our room was rather dirty with mold and dust everywhere. The bed was lumpy. The fixtures on the wall were old and falling apart.The light in the bathroom leaked water all night and day. There were no measures taken too sound proof any part of the room. I heard everything our fellow guests were doing the entire trip - doors banging, people arguing ect. . Resulting in bad sleep. The two TV didn't work and neither did the remotes. You have to book for a swim and use of the facilities. Quite odd. Also we were charged twice for our stay. The grounds were beautiful and the staff were lovely and friendly. The woman behind the desk in particular was very nice and she made our trip. We liked that the hotel was dog friendly. The breakfast was nice. Would we be back, no however I can see why it might appeal to some.

Wouldn't rush back
Hotel has some beautiful common areas including a lovely bar with open fireplace that crated a lovely and sociable atmosphere. The snooker room is a bonus also but was always occupied during our stay. The room was disappointing however. The bed was really small and very uncomfortable and the room far smaller than it looks on the pictures. There was a lovely selection of teas and coffees but the mugs weren't clean and dusty both inside and out. The fire alarm went off at 2.30am during our stay also - obviously not the hotel's fault though so no blame cast there.

Very Poor Customer Service at Thainstone House
When I arrived they said they didn’t receive a booking for 3 people. However my confirmation from Hotels.com on my online account and by email confirmed I booked for 3 people. We were made to feel it was our fault they did not know there was 3 people staying and that is why the sofa bed was not made up for the other family member in our party. The hotel blamed Expedia/Hotels.com. I was also accused by the general hotel manager who made a comment I had underpaid and made to feel it was my fault. The second night the fire alarm went off at 2.30am which I understand can happen. It woke everyone in our party up. There was also no fire plan or evacuation procedure on the back of the room door. When my relative went to the reception in early hours in the morning to the night porter they said it was set off by someone taking a shower and it was the steam. I did not get back to sleep until nearer 4am and check out was at 11am. When checking out there was no verbal apology for the fire alarm being set off and a proper full explanation. A generic letter was put through the door but only after verbally complaining in the early hours of the morning. No apology for the inconvenience. This stay was for a weekend trip for a family birthday. The staff made the stay in this hotel not enjoyable from start to finish. I have stayed in various hotels across the UK and abroad. This has to be one of the worst stays I have had in a hotel, very poor customer service overall.

Dear Anonymous,Thank you for the time in leaving feedback. Please forgive any misunderstanding regarding the comments related to your booking. The comment was highlighting the fact that the Pull down had not been made up prior to arrival as the confirmation from the agent to the hotel stated two adults, not the three that featured on your confirmation. Thereby not affording us the opportunity to make up your room correctly. The automatic fire alarm is a critical life safety feature present in all hotels, its activation is not planned. The alarm was triggered by a guest taking a shower with the bathroom door open. The nights team posted a letter of apology to each and every room after the alarm, which was known to be false, was triggered. This is done as a matter of course as I am sure you will appreciate the task of going to 48 bedrooms to apologise in the early hours of the morning would perhaps invite more disturbance for our guests. The alarm was silenced within three minutes as verified by our fire monitoring service and only when the event was deemed to be false, and our fire risk assessment which has been checked by the fire service would verify this procedure to be correct. I have checked the room you occupied and this does have a fire plan on the back of the door, again verified by the fire officer locally.It would appear that we were not given the opportunity to apologise to you in the morning, which we did offer to all check out and in house guests.I am grateful of your feedback. Cosy atmospheric stay - highly recommended
A magical time away with mum & sister. We spent a big part of the trip in the drawing room planning my sisters wedding… we were well looked after by the bar man! All snug and cosy. There was a storm the first night which made the hotel very atmospheric shall we say… and there was certainly a ‘presence’ felt in our room in the oldest part of the hotel. Highly recommended if you want somewhere nestled away with great staff and cosy atmosphere! We didn’t try the spa but hear it’s good… breakfast was delicious.

Excellent hotel, execrable piped music.
Excellent hotel, reasonably priced, friendly staff, nice grounds. The only negative was the terrible piped music on infinite repeat in the common areas/upstairs bar. Mostly fiddle and high speed bagpiping, especially irritating when trying to get some work done. We asked if it might be changed to something (anything, please!) else but apparently it's controlled at head office.

The drive up to the property is absolutely stunning, a long path between trees, with wild rabbits in the grass to either side. Coming through to the other side there’s a large open field to the left and the property just ahead next to the free guest parking available. The staff member, Emma, who checked us in was a delight she spoke to us genuinely, not as if we were ‘just other guests.’ We were here to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary, so a personally written card and some tasty treats were left in the room for us. Overall we had a very pleasant nights stay, we didn’t actually make use of the facilities or many amenities, however I don’t doubt that these would have impressed if we made use of them. I would definitely recommend, and will likely stay again until the future.

Lovely hotel. For those attending a wedding in the area - Lunch/Room service food is not available untill 12.30 and early check-in is at 12. Great breakfast, relaxing sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and pool, great staff, bar and very nice outdoor seating to relax in the sun.
