Clean and friendly place
The hotel is near restaurants, shops and supermarkets. It is a very clean place and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The pool is clean, but only sun until 2 pm.

"Negativa": Die Küche war nicht komplett ausgestattet, es fehlte der Herd; allerdings war ein Wasserkocher vorhanden; ein Stecker einer Nachttischlampe hatte einen Wackelkontakt; vom benachbarten "Freizeitpark" war die Musik manches Mal sehr laut zu hören (das betraf allerdings vorwiegen unser Zimmer, die meisten anderen Zimmer hatten eine vom "Freizeitpark" abgewandte Lage). POSTIVA: Sehr freundliches Personal; zum Frühstück konnte man sich Omeletts zubereiten lassen; frische Handtücher wurden fast immer nett drapiert; häufiger Bettwäschewechsel (täglich ?); geräumige, Suit-ähnliche Zimmer; free WiFi (Code erforderlich) ... funktionierte allerdings mit stark wechselnder Übertragungsgeschwindigkeit, obwohl die Verbindung im Mbaud-Bereich lag und stabil war.

Das Hotel ist super für Leute, die nicht zwingend einen Strandzugang brauchen. Für uns als Taucher war es wirklich sehr gut, da wir sowieso jeden Tag auf und im Rotem Meer waren. Für Familien mit Kindern ist das Spiel und Spaß Angebot im Hotel nicht ausreichend. Die Räume sind sehr schön und sauber. Wichtig in der Küche gibt es einen Kühlschrank mit Eisfach, für heiße Sommertage wirklich ein MUSS.

Das Hotel liegt nicht direkt am Meer, man kriegt aber am Empfang einen Vaucher von einem deren Hotel (Old Vic) um dort das Meer geniessen zu könen (Eintrittspreis 15, statt 30 ägyptische Pfund, also ca. 2,50 CHF). Taxis gibt es enorm viele, der normale Preis vom Hotel bis Old Vic ist 5 ägyptische Pfund, also weniger als 80 Rp. pro Fahrt, lohnt sich zu nehmen, das dieser Strand ca. 1,5 km vom Hotel entfernt ist. Zuerst habe ich bei diesem Hotel ein Zimmer auf der Strassenseite bekommen, dies war zu lärmig. Ab dem zweiten Tag konnte ich dann in ein anderes, ruhiges Zimmer wechseln. Sehr freundliches Personal. Bei Tauchgängen waren Delphine und Wasserschildkröten das Highlight.

Ein wunderschoenes Wochenende in Hurghada in einem kleinen familaeren Hotel. Die Zimmer sind super gross und komfortabel. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Leider war das Hotel auf Grund der politischen Lage ziemlich leer, so dass auch das Buffet nicht uebermaessig reichhaltig war.

Sol Y Mar Suites ist ein sehr gutes Hotel, das viel Komfort anbietet. Die Hotel Personal ist freundlich, hilfsbereich, nicht aufdringlich. Die Zimmer bieten sehr gutes Komfort, alles wird sehr sauber gehalten. Schönes, vielfältiges Frühstücksbuffet. Abendessen mehr als zufriedenstellend, vor allem Salatbar und Desertangebot sind sehr gut. Hauptgerichte aber nur mittelmässig mit sehr begrenzter Auswahl. Sehr gute Klimanlage. Und ausreichendes heisses Wasser. Enttäuschend ist der Lage, ziemlich außerhalb vom Zentrum mit wenig direkt in der Nähe. Dafür ist der Gegend aber auch schöne ruhig.

Ein sehr schönes kleines aber feines Hotel zum erholen. Das Essen war zauberhaft. Wir reisen seit vielen Jahren nach Hurghada, bisher hatten wir noch nie in ganz Hurghada/El Gouna solch ein schmackhaftes lecker essen serviert bekommen. Auch ein riesengroßes Plus, keinerlei Russische Gäste, Erholung pur.

Gutes Apartmenthotel in zweiter Reihe, sehr nah am Airport (ca. 1km) - aber keine Lärmbelästigung. Sehr freundliches Personal, gutes Frühstücksbuffet. Leider ist der Pool nicht beheizt, jedoch ist der Zugang zu zwei Stränden möglich.

Das Hotel Sol y Mar liegt nicht so weit vom Flughafen, man hat aber viel Platz auf dem Zimmer

Really enjoyed my 8 night stay at Solymar and works definitely stay again. The reception staff are superb. Sherif avd Ahmed gonout of their way to ensure guests are happy and looked after. They organised me a fantasy excursion at short notice, which was not only well organised but superb value. It is obvious the staff really take pride in their work. The hotel is compact however the suites are huge. Mine (110) was huge.. bigger than my apartment in London! Housekeeping are very efficient and the rooms and linen are cleaned/changed frequently. The hotel isn't beachfront but is very close the airport in less touristy part of Hurghada. I really enjoyed the range of ships and eateries nearby, catering for both locals and visitors. I felt safe in the area. Beaches (Dreams Beach/Old Sheraton) are a 5 mib cab ride away. It cost be 50 egp (80p!) each way. The breakfast is wonderful and superb value and I'd highly recommend. omelette cooked to order and a good selection of pastries, cheese, fruit and yogurts. Dinner is also good value and I had it 3 times. It was a bufget with bref/chicken each time.The chefs are wonderful guys. I'm so pleased to have found the Solymar. I didn't want to spend my week at one the big resort hotels, that only cater to north eiropean/russian tourists. The Solymar has a much more mixed crowd. Thank you to everyone who helped me to have such a good holiday. I hope to return.

Great value
The location of this Hotel is within a 25 minute walk from the airport. It is a 10 minute walk away from a strip of restaurants and shops/bars. Out the main door turn left then first right continue straight until you reach the strip. The Hotel is an excellent budget hotel in all but one aspect, which for me was the wifi. Room wifi poor at best and lobby wifi not strong enough to support a whatsapp video call, but did support an audio one. The room for a solo traveller was a suite including, kitchenette, lounge hallway, bathroom ,bedroom and two balconies(307). This was spacious, basic and clean. The hotels heatbeat comes from Ahmed on reception who will organise tours for you at a fraction of the Get Your Guide price. Some tours are long in coach travel which was ok by me but not everyones cuppa.He is also helpful in many other aspects. Do not compare this hotel with the luxury brands but if budget is you priority this has excellent value in bucket loads.

I can say that the employees are very helpful in every way. It has new and well-maintained rooms. It has a restaurant that serves best quality meals. I can say that its only drawback is that it is not very close to the seaside.

I had a pleasant stay at Solymar Ivory Suites. Thanks to the receptionist who enquired about my wifi requirements before room allocation. This accommodation offers a good wifi connection despite a technical issue encountered on the first day which was resolved by the staff. The room itself was spacious, clean and comfortable. The hot water supply was consistent. The check-in and check-out processes were fast. The location is convenient with eateries and marts around. One minor drawback was the bedding which could be improved by providing a proper blanket instead of a white sheet.

It was a day stay only while waiting for plane. Price was reasonable, staff was accommodating, food was good. Internet available only in rooms on the first floor.
