„Beach cottage (also called Orowaru cottage) is a gem. We had a great week there. I can particularly recommend sitting on the front verandah watching the tide roll in and out. Deeply peaceful. And well appointed for your every need. We used the cottage as a base to explore the Hokianga and Whangape Harbours. So many marae, so many early churches, friendly locals wherever we went. I came home with a lovely handmade rug from the Kohukohu Village Arts. The little Kohukohu library is another gem.“

„Lovely welcoming hosts, Lise was prompt and attentive. We just stayed the one night but it was a very restful and relaxing stay, very private and serene garden areas to enjoy, and all just a short walk to the Kohukohu CBD : ) Very handy to the pub and shop and just across the street from the bowls club where the locals will happily welcome you for a sneaky beverage, there’s some folks there enjoying a bowl and a beer most nights during the summer nights.“

There were no electrical outlets next to the bed, plus the switch for the night stand lights could not be reached when lying in bed. The windows could not be closed, so we had bugs inside. The bathroom did not have a fan to expel the moist air, which causes problems on the ceiling. In addition to that, the joints in the shower could use some extended cleaning or replacement. Overall good (8/10) but some room for improvement."
