Auf einem tollen Grundstück gelegen, ist es nur durch eine sehr wenig befahrene Küstennebenstraße vom Meer getrennt. Zur steinigen Küste mit vielen Schildkröten und spektakulären Wellen sind es nur wenige Schritte. Lava-Ponds (einer davon etwas versteckt zugänglich direkt rechts vom Haus) zum Planschen oder entspannen im Meerwasser ebenso direkt in der Nähe. Nächste Strände 5 Minuten mit dem Auto entfernt ...

„Das Häuschen ist gemütlich mit einer schönen Terrasse. Allerdings eignet es sich mehr für Pärchen, für Freunde ist das relativ schmale Bett nicht jedermanns Sache. Nachts hört man den Sound der Natur, zirpen der Grillen, Vogelgezwitscher u.ä. Der Vermieter ist hilfsbereit, hält sich ansonsten diskret zurück. Wir hatten einen angenehmen Aufenthalt.“

We also wound up driving north around the island to the west side a bit more than towards Hilo. Just sitting on the porch and looking out at the sky & ocean was so peaceful. „My husband and I so enjoyed our stay in the Pineapple Cottage at Hulili Farm. While the location made sight-seeing around the island easy, we often opted to stay in and enjoy the sound of the rain on the roof and the sway of the hanging bed on the lanai. We hope to come back again soon!“

It is about 40 minutes from Hilo, the last 5 miles from the house consists of literally a roller coaster of a road (paved and fun) but the last mile to the house is not far from rock climbing (5mph tops, suv required, no cars) The property is largely unkept, but the inside of the house is well taken care of and includes most of what you'd need. „It is charming in a rustic way. It was smaller than we thought and the only heat in the living room and kitchen was a wood burning stove so we spent a lot of time and energy trying to stay warm. The first 2 days there was no live TV but a new spectrum box was brought in. Theresa, the property manager was very accommodating.“
