This beautiful, light filled cottage overlooking the sea, is just a stone’s throw from Hayling’s beach, mini railway and a beach café, and a 15-minute drive (or ferry ride!) from Portsmouth. The décor is chic yet cosy, and the accommodation has a surprisingly spacious feel. The living area is simply but comfortably furnished set around a wood burning stove with original cupboards and shelving either side and a Smart TV with Prime for your entertainment. There is also a dining room with sea views that seats 6 people. Upstairs two spacious bedrooms, the master with sea views to wake up to, and a twin room which has an additional very comfortable fold-out bed, idea for an extra child. There are two small, sheltered back gardens with seating that are separated by a converted washhouse, now providing an ideal utility room/toilet/kitchenette, perfect for preparing an al fresco lunch, BBQ or afternoon tea in the garden! There is also an outdoor shower fed by warm water, ideal to wash the sand from your toes!

This historic cottage retains many original features. Built by the admiralty in the 1860s following a shipwreck off the island to house the 1st local coastguards. Immediately outside the house is a pretty lawn and garden area with a bench that is tended by the local residents, and the outdoor gym, mini railway, café and beach and are a few minutes’ walk away. There is also a skate park a short distance away. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the Billy Trail, a scenic cycling and walking trail following the route of the former Hayling Billy Railway line, offering stunning views of the island’s countryside and coastline. Golf enthusiasts can tee off at the Hayling Island golf club, which boasts an 18-hole course set against the backdrop of the island’s natural beauty. The hosts have thought of everything for your entertainment, the outdoor games area is sure to be a winner (and great for a rainy day!) equipped with everything from beach toys, table tennis for kids and dart board for the adults! Guests also have access to boogie boards and a beach parasol is provided.

The location is ideal, allowing guests to leave the car behind if they so wish and explore on foot. From beach outings to pub dinners or award-winning fish and chips, everything is within easy reach of your stay. Whether waking up to ocean views from the master bedroom or enjoying al fresco lunches, Coastguards Cottage offers a wonderful beachside experience.
