I once interviewed an archaeologist for an article I was working on about the country’s hundreds of towers, castles and forts and he explained about the different design philosophies you can see. This #fort, he said, is in a dreadful defensive position. As a fortification, it is next to worthless. As a show of dominance over the surrounding #town, it’s outstanding.
