Jederzeit wieder
Zur Durchreise buchten wir dieses Verkehrsgünstig gelegenes Hotel. Wir würden es auf jeden Fall erneut buchen. Sehr ruhig und abseits gelegen und auch für einen ausgedehnten Spaziergang mit Hunden gut geeignet. Die Bäckerei im Ort ist absolut Empfehlenswert (Bagutte und Tateteltte).

Übernachten wie bei Königs
Sehr exquisites, stilvolles Hotel. Das kleine Schloss liegt sehr praktisch ca. 90 Km südlich von Calais ca. 5 min ab der Autobahn und bietet 3 sehr gute Restaurants.Das Personal spricht Französich und Englisch, leider kein Deutsch, was einem Haus mit solchem Anspruch allerdings gut täte.

Magnificent property in extensive grounds. The bar was staffed infrequently and closed/lights were out early (c22:00). Despite temperatures in the mid 20s there was no seating area outside to take a drink in the warm sunshine. It would seem the hotel has switched into autumn mode.

Having stayed at La Chartreuse previously a couple of years ago, I was a bit disappointed. The service wasn’t as good as before especially at the restaurant Le Vasco.

Lovely spot easy to find and close to autoroute for stop off Harding for south coast . Bed very comfortable, stayed on one of those very hot days - Only thing below par was the air con wasn’t working and took a while to try and cool the room with windows open .

Charming hotel with nice characteful rooms. Only complaint would be the bathroom. Bath was located below the sloping roof and behind the toiletroom in a corner. Showering was impossible and while my wife and myself aren’t that old, getting in and out of the bath was a challenge. Breakfast was nice with fresh fruits and juice but quite sober in offering. Would only advice for a single night.

A Good Place To Stop, BUT....
A once good hotel that's fading a little. It could use a deep clean, paint and new mattresses. The restaurants are greatly overpriced and the quality of the food (think frozen veg) is very average. The staff are lovely, they save the place.

Excellent stay one hour from Eurotunnel
We wanted to find a new stopover hotel for Eurotunnel. It was a little bit far but otherwise we had a very nice stay. The hotel was very quiet. The decor is very traditional (flowery wallpaper matching flowery counterpane) so you need to like that, there is no modern crossover although the bathroom was excellent - great shower! Nice freebie touches too and a fully stocked mini-bar (rare these days). The antiques and paintings are beautiful and the restaurant (La Distillerie) was buzzy and had a magnificent log fire going on. Food was plentiful and tasty. The breakfast was also very good although rather expensive at €20pp and they would not allow me to have just a coffee and pastry for a lesser price. The park and gardens must be beautiful in the Spring - it would soften the rather austere appearance of the chateau.

Needs Attention
This is an old, classic French chateau which really needs to be updated. Everything seemed to be worn and tired. Nowadays guests need electrical outlets to charge phones, etc. The staff was competent and efficient but could have been more welcoming and friendlier. With more care and attention, this could be a very nice place to stay.

Everything we wanted..
This was an overnight stay on our way home from Bruges through Eurotunnel. The hotel is a lovely refurbished chateau and Domaine and the rooms very French and comfortable. The staff were wonderfully attentive and courteous. The restaurant served great cuisine even though we only had a steak / frites and a duck burger. But cooked exactly to choice and far better than anything you can get in UK. The house beer was superb too. On leaving the next morning we regretted not staying longer but the Béthune locality in winter is rather sadly lacking in appeal when compared to Bruges. However as a sophisticated pre Calais stop - quite simply superb for the mature and discerning traveller. We'll be back.

This gorgeous château an hour from Calais was the perfect French weekend trip. Staff were really accommodating, hotel was truly special. The food In George 2 was memorable. Looking forward to going back!

An exceptional hotel
The hotel is beautiful, luxurious & spacious on every level. The staff - reception, bar & restaurant - are excellent in providing first class service. We loved the restaurant - pretty as a picture! The food was very tasty too. In short, our stay at La Chartreuse Du Val St Esprit was wonderful & we shall be returning soon!
