Ein sehr schönes, uraltes englisches Hotel.
Das Hotel ist eines der ältesten und ununterbrochen bewirtschaftetes Inn in GB. Die Gebäude bilden ein sehr schönes Ensemble. Das Personal ist freundlich. Parken kann man in einem Parkhaus in der Nähe (Übernachtungsgäste kostenlos - das Auslösen des Autos ist aber m.E. nicht einfach).

Schönes Ambiente in renoviertem, altem Pilgerhaus
Das Hotel liegt mitten im Stadtzentrum. Es hat eine sehr eigene Athmosphäre mit einem wunderbaren Innenhof. Das Haus ist sehr alt und stilvoll renoviert. Man spürt den alten Geist noch sehr gut. Empfehlenswert!

Hotel was wonderful, building very very old, worth a stay for a look around. Its not boutique, not brand new, dont stay if you want fancy, hotel could do with alot of money spending on it, which is a shame as in this market with all the other budget hotels around they wont have the investment, new shower new mattresses and bedding would be good cheap start, all that being said we loved the place and will be returning again because its so unusual

If it’s a dated property, wonky floors = a wonky bed & beer barrels clattering round at 7am then this is the place for you, on a positive note the staff where polite & helpful

Overall a pleasant stay. However, the plumbing was a bit dangerous in that I got scolded a couple of times when showering. The slightest turn of the hot tap turned the temperature from warm to boiling hot very quickly. I escaped serious burns by pure luck and fast movement. Certainly something that needs to be addressed before someone gets badly burnt.

Terrible experience
Quaint old building in a very poor state of repair. Cheap old dump worthy pine furniture ruined the beam features. The twin beds were the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in. Cheap and nasty. Divan bases stained. The curtains were cheap and unlined and didn't cover the window when closed. We were at the front overlooking the street with a single glazed window which you couldn't close completely and the noise was ridiculous! Underneath us, part of the building has been turned into a mobile phone shop. The coffee shop is shut. The breakfast was self serve and cold. With a loaf of bread in its packet to help yourself. The bacon was like cardboard. This is definitely not a 3 star hotel. Avoid, avoid, avoid! Never again.

A touch of history.
I had a nice time at the hotel, it was noisy on the Saturday night but I expected that so it was fine. However, the walls are thin and I didn’t appreciate the chap in the room next to me chatting till 2 am but that may have been a “one off”. The staff I met were polite and helpful.

Had some lovely old features. Building could do with a total upgrade. The windows in our room didn't fully close which made the room cold. The heating wasnt on. Due to the windows not closing properly we got woken up at 6.30 am by road sweepers. Breakfast was cold on both mornings we stayed. Was a buffet style breakfast which i thought was nice considering it was cold.

Loud music spoils this historic building
Booked a night at this hotel as a treat as we had both had a tough week at work… we may as well stayed at home. The room was directly above the bar, which was packed, the karaoke started at 9 and carried on until midnight. The noise was so loud, it was unbearable. At no point was this mentioned when booking…. We’re both up for people enjoying themselves but we would not have booked this hotel if we had known. All we wanted was a lovely quiet night. This SHOULD be at least mentioned in the description. The breakfast was ok but not very hot. The hotel itself is steeped in history and the rooms are quirky with its uneven floors and walls, this is why we booked it, but it could do with a complete refurb, It’s such a shame that the loud karaoke spoils it. I swear the room we stayed in was haunted lol Would we recommend it… NO. We will not be back

Historical and quirky.
It is a very old hotel so don't expect modern and shiny. Every room is different with changes of level in corridors-odd steps here and there. Worn and uneven flagstones in courtyard. BUT it is ideally located for shops, entertainment and sightseeing. Everywhere is walkable and there are large traffic free areas.

My review is purely on aged character of the property and the room. I was not there long enough to utilise the other facilities including restaurant alehouse and other. That said this is a very well presented property steeped in history. I'd welcome the opportunity to spend a few days at the property in the summer to more ably comment on its hospitality. Purely for the room and property's character ; I found it capably delivered

We were warned that karoke went on until midnight, so not a surprise but wouldn't suit light sleepers etc, Building is very old, historic and full of character (inclu very wonky floors), but not luxurious & decor/facilities are dated & could do with tidying up. Initial impression of staff wasn't good as they were poorly presented but were polite, did a good job, more so as there seemed to only be a few of them & they were working really hard.

Very very noisy all night. Beds dirty, uncomfortable. Thin cheap pillows no matress protector thin duvet. Room was clean but needs redecorating and sash windows fixing and restoration. Breakfast doesn't start until 8am so because we were leaving by then for a graduation we were told we could have continental breakfast which was actually cereal or toast that you do yourself so not worth the extra money id paid with the booking. Pub is quirky and central however glad to get home for some proper sleep.
