Location is unbeatable. House is as advertised, modest, but to be honest I would sleep under an old tarp to be by that beautiful river. Our landlady was friendly and easy to talk with. Given the money I would stay there longer than a fortnight.

We love Gipsy Point
Older home ,with everything needed for our 4 week fishing stay. Great outlook. Private jetty for our boat. Loved Lyns chooks wandering around and all the other wildlife. Very quiet location. Not much luck fishing this time. We love Gipsy Point and the people who share this tranquil part of the world.

A delightfully quiet experience
We loved the quietness of the b&b. The kangaroos and birds were marvelous. The very tame king parrots were a delight. The home-made bread and other breakfast supplies were very well received. The beds were very comfortable. Overall a very well appointed property. A couple of minor points. A couple of hand towels for the kitchen and bathroom would be great. Also, we had a little difficulty finding the entrance. Your description of how to find the entrance was great. However, the sign and the number 6 were vey over-grown. a couple of minutes with some secateurs would fix that.

Relaxing stay
We have enjoyed our stay at Gypsy Point. The cottage is surrounded by nature overlooking the lake. You can relax on the front patio listening to the birds for hours. The home-made bread waiting for us in the kitchen came in very handy. Thank you Lynn

We are glad you enjoyed your stay Alex. The front verandah is magic I sat there yesterday for a short while as I was cleaning and was captivated by the three resident lyre birds carrying-on a very noisy conversation as they worked over the garden.

Thanks for the feedback. Riverbed is a modest cottage but is well cared for and professionally cleaned. Rest assured I will be querying all future guests about the comfort of the beds and they will be replaced if required.

Riverbed paradise
Thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Even the possum antics early evening, the visiting birds, kangaroos, resident chooks and lyrebird. So many different birds including, the bellbirds singing all day. Yes I loved the wildlife. Cottage very clean and comfy. Hosts wonderful. Just perfect place to chill out. Breakfast very generous, the fresh eggs and bacon delicious! Will definitely come again.

Quaint and cosy riverside cottage
We had a thoroughly enjoyable 4 day stay at Riverbed. The location is just delightful, the river views, the birds and wildlife at your doorstep. Though the cottage is a little old fashioned, it is very clean and comfortable, and has everything you need. We lit the BBQ a couple of times, and dined on the deck, watching the visiting kangaroos. The male lyrebird paid a visit, and performed a song and dance, just for us. Only a short drive into 'Coota for supplies, plus a charming art gallery, and Lucy's restaurant for some seriously good noodles. Definitely would stay again, for the peaceful ambience, and being able to enjoy an early morning paddleboard on the river.

Perfect stay
We stayed a week at Lyn’s Riverside house. It was a tranquil spot, nestled among trees with a view of the water. We were greeted by kangaroos lazing on the lawns, and made friends with the King Parrots and rainbow lorikeets on the deck. We spotted a plethora of other native bird life (including lyrebirds), as well as goannas, possums, and even a koala. Terrific for spot to read a book and unwind. Just what we needed. Lyn was very friendly, and made check in easy. The house is basic, but clean and comfy to come back to after a day on the water or at the beach in Mallacoota. Highly recommend for those who want to unplug and unwind.

Queens birthday long weekend
How to describe it in as few as possible words? Perfect! The booking process and communication were a breeze. The location? peaceful, just sounds of birds and critters and the rain on the roof The cottage? Quaint, clean, everything you need to to stay. The bed was warm and super comfy. The log fire was warm and cosy. The view was postcard-pretty—birds on the verandah, kangaroos on the lawn. The directions? are easy to find. The place is excellent if you are a fisherman within walking distance of the river. It rained when we stayed; which made the place serene and cosy. Was perfect for catching up on reading, and laying on a sun lounge with the birds chattering away. We had no mobile reception with Optus, but that may change. We will be back.

Drawing the curtain reveals a mob of kangaroos grazing on the front lawn sloping toward the wide and lazy Wallagaraugh river and the rising treetops beyond. All manner of birds jostle for a chance of breakfast on the balcony.

Close to nature

A little paradise
A perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Kangaroos graze on the property, so many birds, including bellbirds, noisy wattlebirds, magpies, wagtails and many many more, visiting possums, and all of this with the best of views. The cottage was spacious and very comfortable, and what a treat.... freshly baked bread and eggs from the visiting hens.delightful.

Gipsy point riverbed cottage
We have stayed here several times over the last 10 years and love it. A beautiful location and perfect place for bird watchers & nature lovers needing tranquility. We love anticipating which wildlife might visit the lawn, garden, verandah during the day & evening. The delicious home made bread and provisions are a welcome treat. The charming cottage is well equipped with everything you need and is nicely appointed with artistic flair. The mattress is comfortable, though may be getting close to need replacing. For anyone that feels the cold in weatherboard cottages in the height of winter, an extra blanket may be needed, we used a sleeping bag over existing linen. Sitting next to the wood fire with a glass of wine, looking out at wilderness and wildlife, in comfort, is a real privilege. We were relieved to see some habitat and town had been saved from the bush fires, and the amount of recovery taking place in both in Gipsy Point and Mallacoota. We look forward to returning.

Sorry you found this cold Yvonne. A wood heater and a reverse cycle heater are generally enough to keep the whole house cosy.

Idyllic getaway
My sister and I spent 4 days here. Loved the parrots and bowerbirds on the deck in the morning and the lake just down the drive. The house is not fancy, but relaxed and welcoming. Slept well, drank in the fresh air and solitude, read on the balcony, listened to the birds and the whisper of the trees. A great place to escape from screens and the daily chatter of life, and instead tune into nature.

We loved our stay in this friendly cottage, right near the water so we could fish and take out our kayaks. Kitchen was simple but very functional and the linen was all good quality. A bad nights sleep at the Riverbed
Overall the Riverbed was a great little weekend get away, though it does need a little TLC and some new pillows to replace the current slabs of hardwood. There are also minor problems with the Hotwater in the shower and the ability to lock the place up, which I am sure can all be overcome with a little maintenance. It would have been great to have some wifi, we appreciate not everybody wants the annoyance of mobile phones but there are times when contact with the outside world is a necessity. There is a wall phone so I gather wifi could be available in a limited way. But a great place to hide away from the world.

Thanks for your comments Garry. Pillows have been replaced with very soft alternatives and maintenance issues cleared up. I wont be installing wifi until we can get mobile reception at Gipsy. So I am afraid the sound of the bell birds will reign at the house for the next few months.

Comfortable with a beautiful view.
We were so glad we stayed in Gypsy Point rather than Mallacoota it is so quiet and picturesque. The house is comfortable but the real stars are the views, the wildlife and the prolific birds. We just loved it!..We ate at Gypsy point lodge 2 nights which was great too which meant we didn’t have to drive into Mallacoota. Overall a very positive experience.

We came looking for a restful stay and found it in spades. I loved the house with wide veranda, set up with bbq, visited by rainbow lorikeets, and superbly coloured King parrots and many others. The house is comfortable and well equipped, and Lyn provided a hearty breakfast of eggs fresh laid by her chooks, bacon and homemade bread. A great place to forget the business of life and slow down.

We loved our stay at gipsy point. The wood fire has us up at the table chatting, sharing local wines and cheeses. We absolutely loved the over 14 kangaroos that came each night and stayed into the morning. To top it off the most amazing birds came to visit us on the porch. Loved it.

wonderful birds, wildlife and view over the river
The house is a paradise for those who love birds and wildlife, peace and tranquility. Birdseed is provided and you'll have a wonderful range of birds on the verandah and nearby. And rainbow lorikeets and king parrots on your hands if you want a close up experience. Keep an eye on your lunch though - a bower bird stole part of ours while unattended on the verandah! There are lyre birds to be seen around in the garden at times too!! And kangaroos on the lawn. The house is older style - so don't expect shiny modern accommodation, but it's very comfortable. We have to admit to being a bit cold (it was winter!) - and we're inner city softies used to ducted heating and electric blankets! The wood fired heater helped. While this region and nearby Mallacoota were hit by the bushfires, the view from the house looks just as usual and the river is beautiful. It is good to see regeneration in the burnt bush nearby and much of the regions beauty is still intact. Lynn, the host, is very friendly, interesting and knowledgeable. And you can get an evening meal at the nearby Gipsy Point Lodge if you want to eat out. We'll be back. Thank you for a lovely stay
