Excellent value and location in Edmonton
The hotel is conveniently located on Whyte avenue, the liveliest part of town, and within walking distance to the university. The hotels is no frills but reasonably priced and offer an excellent breakfast. Service and cleanliness were impeccable. We would stay there again.

Very convenient location on Whyte and the breakfast each day was very good. Everything else was mediocre. -We had a room with a fireplace but the staff couldn't get the pilot to light. -Both ice machines were broken. One evening staff brought some ice when it was requested, another evening they did not. -The lounge was said to be available until 10pm, but food ends at 9 pm and was already closed when we went at 8:45pm.

The closest parking to the hotel was 3 blocks away. While they offer "valet" parking, there was nowhere to park or unload. Had paid for a room with a spa bathtub and king bed, but was put in a room with a shower and queen bed. They didnt tell me my room would not be the one I got, and did not offer a discount or refund. The room was facing the extremely loud street, and the noise aggrivated my pets. Left 2 hours after checking in, as there was no way to move luggage safely into hotel from 3 blocks away extremely dissappointed.

I had a great trip to Edmonton and enjoyed the Metterra. We had a few issues with our room on the trip. The air conditioning wasn't working and the beds were a bit saggy. However, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The parking lot for the hotel is about a block away so something to take into consideration if you are staying. Also the breakfast buffet was in a board room rather than the restaurant due to a flood. The gym had some good equipment and the hotel is in an ideal location which is very walkable.

AC in our room did not work, resulting in having to open the door to allow for some air flow. The noise from the street is insane, people screaming at 4:30am, a man playing a guitar over a loud amp from 4am-7:30am, ect. While the hotel cannot control the outside world they control the ability to cool the room itself to prevent having to keep doors/windows open. On top of the exterior noise the fire alarm beeped indicating a low battery around 5am, while we were able to unplug it ourselves for the remainder of the morning, that noise coupled with the already poor sleeping conditions was rather frustrating.

Hello Megan , I am sorry you experienced issues with the room temperature. We did turn on the AC unit at the beginning of the month however apparently there have been some rooms with issues. I have issued a refund for the valet parking for both nights. I hope you would consider giving us another try in the future.

I have stayed at the Meterra for many years but it is in desperate need of a facelift. When we arrived the room’s carpet we were given was soaking wet between the bed and the door. The patio door was also screwed shut with no ability to get airflow. Due to the questionable nature of the carpet we asked to be relocated, which we were easily accommodated. Unfortunately the room we were given had a restaurant venting into the outside right below so we also couldn’t open that patio door. The breakfast in the morning has been temporarily relocated to a boardroom which was awkward (strangers sitting around one table) and not up to their usual standards. For the $300/night we paid I would stay somewhere else and Uber where I need to go.

They treated me well with an upgrade but it’s not a place for a restful night, the street is party central with a very noisy environment til 3 am! Breakfast service Not available without notice, just Not up to expectations!

Would not recommend. Brutal stay, heating system could not be adjusted. On (hot air)/Off was the only option. When we requested a room change from the front desk we were told all other rooms would be the same because they “didn’t turn the AC on until May”. So the answer was to bring us an industrial drying fan which was so deafening we never slept at all. When we checked out in the morning and brought our issues forward we were THEN told that they were waiting on a part for their HVAC. When I asked why they wouldn’t told tell us that at check-in we were told to contact the Front Desk Manager by email for potential compensation. Which we did a week ago with no reply at all. So again, I would not recommend this hotel. A joke of an experience for sure.

suites particularly 601are becoming a little too lived in. 601 had a half iron impression burnt into the carpet, furniture (chairs) corners are all worn, couches could be updated. A reservation for two travellers per stay should be entitled to “two” bottles of water not just one. A suite should also have the proper immentities outside a micro wave (bowls, tea towel ,cloth). We stay here quite frequently and generally love the experience, but after one month since our last stay, the one elevator is still down.

Staff was excellent. Free VIP parking and breakfast. Only downside is that Whyte Ave is busy at night....... noise cancelling ear plugs help tho!! We have stayed here several times and will again. Close to everything!
