4/10
I’ve stayed at many hotels—including other Hiltons—and I’ve never experienced not being able to charge snacks or drinks to my room. After attending a hockey game, we got back to our suite around 11:30 p.m. and realized there was no bottled water provided. (For the record, I find Edmonton tap water pretty unpleasant.)
Not only was there no water in the room—when I went downstairs to buy some, I was told I had to pay for it on the spot, despite the fact that my credit card was already on file for the room. That was frustrating enough, but when I returned with my card (which requires a PIN), the staff still wouldn’t let me purchase the water because I didn’t also bring ID. So I had to go back upstairs again—just for two bottles of water.
Honestly, I’m not sure when this became the norm, but combined with the rudeness from the night staff, it’s enough to make me seriously reconsider ever staying at a Hampton again.
