Super schönes Hotel. Sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet mit einer Mischung von modern und klassisch. Wir haben uns richtig wohl gefühlt. Sehr nettes Personal an der Rezeption. Wir haben im Kings Restaurant zu Abend gegessen. Das Essen war wirklich gut.

Nice little hotel, very clean, comfortable room and friendly staff. Only minor issue was the bathroom was absolutely roasting hot because the heating towel rail never seemed to turn off

Never again look before you book
I didn’t even make it into the front door. As we drove in there was one car in the car park and no signs of life as you looked inside. My first impression was that all the windows were shuttered up but it was the grey murky curtains it didn’t look appealing. I always take things on first impression and that was it. Very run down out side. Yet the pictures on the site make it look very appealing and smart

Hi Lee, I'm sorry you felt we didn't live up to your expectations as you looked out of your car window. Had you taken the time to get out of your car and come in you would have had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay with us. All the photos on the Hotels.com of the Hotel are recent and up to date.

Excellent stay
Lovely friendly welcome at reception, staff very attentive during our time in communal areas, food very good quality and well presented in main restaurant, good standard of cleanliness throughout hotel, our room also of very good standard nice furnishings.

Perfect! I needed a quiet hotel before a very early start. Staff were lovely and the place was spotless. Super quiet and just off a main road so easy access to Dorchester and beyond.

Our midweek stay at George Albert Hotel & Spa
This was a short break in the area of Sherborne. The hotel was the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in everywhere was spotlessly clean. We stayed B&B as they don’t have a chef midweek only at weekends but found some lovely pubs/inns nearby to try. Breakfast excellent too.

The Hotel's location on the edge of the West Dorset AONB puts us in the middle of everywhere and, as you say, with the A37 next to us you can get to the local sights, towns and attractions with minimal fuss.

Hi Toby, hard to respond when you simply left a score. We can say that the booking confirmation letter you received explains everything quite succinctly as to what you can expect on arriving here. Our Duty Manager didn't receive a call from you with any questions, requests or issues. We have checked your room and everything you needed was present and ready for you, big comfy super king bed, crisp white bedlinen, spotlessly clean en-suite bathroom, fluffy white towels, plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits etc. You didn't appear at breakfast, you simply left having said nothing then leave a rating of "2". We would suggest in future maybe call and book with the actual hotel not some faceless OTA or maybe even read your booking confirmation email from the OTA.

Not what I was expecting
Not quite the stay I was expecting. The rooms are very clean and nicely presented and the front desk staff were polite. However, I was aware before I arrived that they didn't serve breakfast which was fine, but then to be told they didn't serve an evening meal through the week was disappointing. The hotel is remote and therefore meant a drive to find a local pub. The hotel did appear to be fairly empty and therefore no atmosphere.

Good afternoon, I am pleased you enjoyed your stay with a comfortable bed and a clean hotel, booking through a 3rd party such as Expedia even though we give them as much information as we can regarding the hotel and it being room only for 2021 with no food served. Didnt even go! We could not travel due to covid but could not get to talk to anybody to move the booking on or cancel. They still took all our money! We tried for hours to get through but nothing!

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your review. We have checked our records and have not had a 'no show' since we reopened mid-June. The Hotel is open 7 days a week and reception open from 9am to 5pm everyday. We find it hard to believe that you called the Hotel for 'hours' and no one answered the telephone even once. We have also checked our emails and found no emails requesting a refund due to being unable to come and stay due to Covid-19. If, as your review shows, you booked through a third party online travel agent such as Expedia, your first port of call would have been to cancel your booking through them not us! We can only take your payment on the day of your arrival. As your review is anonymous we have no way way of checking who you are or even when your booking was so are unable to investigate any further. Lastly we simply don't believe that you called the Hotel for hours. We have refund every request due to being unable to stay due to Covid-19 even after our 48hr deadline has passed. Anyone who reads this revue should do so with a large pinch, handful(!), of salt. This is simply not the way we run our hotel.

It was the most bizarre hotel stay we've ever had but it gave us exactly what we needed. Arriving at the hotel it looked closed and very unloved on the outside but this is obviously the result of really difficult times over the past year or so. However, although all the hotel facilities are currently closed the interior is lovely and well looked after. The rooms are large with good bathroom facilities. Breakfast was at the 'Emporium' just across the car park and was excellent. This wasn't included in the price. As we don't hang around hotels in the day it proved to be an excellent choice with a very reasonable room rate. In good times it was obviously a very good hotel so if all you need is a bed for the night it will suit you well. We wish them all the best in getting through these difficult times.

Very disappointing. Nothing open, closed spa,swimming pool,restaurant and bar. Nearest place to eat six miles away. We were advised an all day breakfast cafe was across the road?? We never found it! Signs up for clay pigeon shooting but it was closed years ago. Very expensive for a room that provided nothing else not even room cleaning. The strangest hotel I’ve ever stayed in and definitely not all due to covid. Would never stay again. When booking, site said, last room but we were the only people staying there.??

Hello Colin, We're sorry to see that you feel we didn't meet your expectations when you stayed with us. Booking through a 3rd party website that uses bots to populate its website is always something of a risk. That said Expedia does state that facilities are currently unavailable due to Covid-19. One quick phone call to us to check and we could have happily explained exactly what to expect for your stay and with that knowledge you could have chosen to stay here or somewhere else that was offering the facilities you might want during your stay. The Hotel doesn't (never has) have a swimming pool so we're impressed you found one here that was closed. There are a number of really good pubs a short drive from the Hotel. If you go to AA Route finder The Acorn in Evershot is 2.92 miles, The Greyhound in Sydling St Nicholas is 3.47 miles, The Fox & Hounds in Cattistock is 3.61 none the 6 miles you claim. Our Reception team are very good at giving directions and if you had asked would even have walked you to the corner of the hotel and pointed at the Emporium Cafe where numerous guests have all enjoyed the delicious full English Breakfast they serve with no problem at all finding it. We assume you didn't ask anyone? There are signs here for Clay Pigeon Caravan Park, Clay Pigeon Raceway and The Sportsman Gunshop but nothing advertising Clay Pigeon Shooting available. Lastly third party websites, such as Expedia, are only allocated a certain number of rooms per night so their claim that the room you booked was the last one would possibly have been correct. If you have an issue with this we would suggest contacting Expedia to voice your complaint as their website is beyond our control. Lastly, next time you're staying in a Hotel (having not called and checked prior to booking) and things are not as you expect we would suggest talking to them while you're there so they have an opportunity to resolve any issues you may have or even tell you where to find breakfast, rather than leave unnecessary & incorrect feedback.

Great couple of days stay x The room was great, cleanliness was superb, spacious and very comfy. Also an excellent base for visiting most places in Dorset. It’s unfortunate that other amenities were not open due to the COVID situation, but all staff were exceptionally helpful. Outside was not as welcoming as the inside, which is understandable due to staffing.

Very comfortable stay
A really good stay - our third time. The rooms are spacious with all amenities at a high standard. We arrived quite late in the evening (about 11pm) and had to wait while key found. However the quality of the room, staff and food quickly made up for this. We used tbe spa facilities which again are of a good standard. We highly recommend and will visit again.
