Gute Lage nahe der Fußgängerzone (Smith Street) und der 'Waterfront Lagoon'; angenehm und sauer, vor allen das Bad. Freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal mit gutem Tipp für Fahrten (5$ pro Strecke) zum Mindil Beach und dem "sunset market", den man gesehen und erlebt haben muss.

Gutes Hotel in zentraler Lage
Wir hatten das Hotel als Ausgangspunkt für weitere Unternehmungen in der Umgebung von Darwin gebucht. Es passte fast alles wirklich gut. Allerdings war das Frühstück ziemlich teuer: 21 AUD und nicht herausragend. Es gibt bessere Frühstücksmöglichkeiten nur wenige Gehminuten entfernt.

Wir haben 2 mal dort eine Nacht verbracht. Die Zimmer sind ansprechend und der Komfort von Waschmaschinen im Haus sehr praktisch. Der Pool ist recht klein, aber nett. Ein Problem gibt es aber, die Klimaanlage ist zentral geregelt. Man kann die Zimmertemperatur nicht verändern und es war nicht nur uns in der zweiten Nacht viel zu kalt. Das Personal erklärte uns, das sich viele Gäste darüber beschweren.

Great being right in the middle of town with the price being very moderate. Of course it would make a huge difference if they had a human being at the front desk instead of a row of check-in computers. I couldn’t get in the front door when I arrived because I didn’t have a passcode or card because I hadn’t checked in. (Luckily a human being appeared from somewhere.) Also I couldn’t find anyone to report that the cleaners had not refilled the soap dispenser. The room was spacious, comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The staff I came across randomly seemed to be nice humans. I will stay there again.

Rydges is very inner Darwin city. Quite conveniently located. It’s very clean/ tidy, and very… average ? A 3 night stay for conference education Observation 1) the check in area uses a ‘self serve’ kiosk type idea, where guests log in, check themselves in, and get their own key card… which is a nice concept, but just seemed odd when there are 2 check in staff present at the kiosk, giving you prompts on navigating the individual machines. It all seemed really impersonal and counter-intuitive Mature aged/ elderly guests seemed to struggle a bit with the screens and needed prompts 2) rooms were clean. Bathrooms look renovated, and v.clean. Room decor just seemed very 90’s and really forgotten. AirCon in Darwin is a must. Room aircon just seemed to struggle, needed overnight! But so terribly loud and intrusive. 3) staff were nice, approachable, but poor in numbers Waiting to pick luggage up from storage. Only One person at ‘check in’ , trying to navigate 5 people… making picking up luggage a long drawn out process. No one from the ‘back office’ offered to help. It just seemed poorly supported. Nice things? Centrally located / in room fridges/ Woolworths supermarket nearby/ huge ice machines/ laundry facilities

Staff were friendly and helpful however we did not like the checkin procedure. Also the hotel’s website is not up to date. There is no restaurant or bar and there is only a small indoor pool not like the one shown in the photos. There is no reception desk either. Therefore your photos on your website need updating too.

I checked in at 1 am and the French Staff were charming and professional with nice smiles and are very welcoming. The hotel was centrally located. I would stay here again as staff are the face of any hotel and night manager French staff was welcoming .

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay at the Rydges. It was in very easy walking distance to the supermarket and restaurants, and the waterfront was only an easy 12min walk. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful with checkin, changing linen when needed, assisting with later checkout etc. The only small improvement I could suggest, and it isn't massive, but seeing as we didn't have a balcony, having a washing/clothes line outside people could utilise (like the area outside past the glass pool gates) for laundry would be amazing! I don't like to use a dryer as our clothes often shrink.

Disappointing
We chose Rydges because of excellent experiences, and delicious meals at other Rydges properties. Rydges Darwin had two positives, the helpful and attentive reception staff and the well designed, spacious room. Room had all the usual amenities, good sized bathroom, large desk with chairs. The blackout blind was excellent. Rooms on higher floors would have good views of Darwin. Ours did not. Otherwise our stay was disappointing. The new self check-in kiosks were not functioning properly, the helpful reception staff were clearly frustrated with the on-going malfunctions. So were we. There is no restaurant on the premises. For breakfast we were given vouchers to a “greasy spoon” down the street, which we had inspected and rejected the day before when looking for a quick lunch. The three options for breakfast, all featured fat, carbohydrate, sugar or cholesterol. “Orange” juice was a bottle of brown sludge, which we refused, and paid extra for the freshly squeezed variety. We also paid extra for wholegrain toast, which was barely warm bread, drenched with butter. There was no fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt or vegetables. I suspect room service meals come from the same place. We will take care to enquire carefully into the amenity of Rydges properties before booking at another.

The Rydges app worked perfectly, my flight was delayed but no problem with my virtual room key 👍 Communication from Reservations was fast and friendly. Room was nice amd clean and housekeeping very polite.
