Hacienda Tres Lagos is in a beautiful location and had a pretty large estate with very many facilities. Unfortunately, the whole complex is a bit dated and they seem to struggle to maintain it all. Offering half as many things done really well would be much better. If you expect a luxurious hotel experience you'll be disappointed but if you come for the nature and want to stay in a comfortable place with pretty good food (for the region) you should be well served here. The staff seem to be changing with the season, with some staff members only in town for a few weeks so the food might vary in quality. We really liked the many animals roaming freely around the big estate but that does come with the odd pile of horse dung here and there :). Our room was very comfortable, spacious and had a good view of the lake.
Although the staff was very friendly and helpful, we paid upfront a significant amount for a Christmas Gala dinner which was promised to be slow-roasted lamb on a fire (a speciality from Patagonia) which was then changed last minute for the salmon you can get everyday (at a much lower cost). They actually visibly prepared the lamb the whole day but actually the staff ate it instead in front of the guests! This was quite a surreal experience for Christmas Eve with no explanation or apology.
