A great little hotel with an unlikely location on the fifth floor of a tall, modern building in the heart of Cartagena’s walled historic centre. Our room - standard with king bed - was extremely spacious and included a balcony that looked over the main, “clock tower” square. I really don’t think the location could have been any better. The continental breakfast was excellent and the staff were lovely, helping out even when our flight from Medellín was diverted to another city, while the hotel’s driver waited at Cartagena airport! The music emanating from clubs in said square can be heard late into the night, but never affected our sleep. I’m not sure if this was just an Expedia perk, but we had free transfers to and from the airport, too. All in all an excellent value. Tourist tips: 1) make sure to include Getsemaní in your wandering around the beautiful old city; 2) If you are planning to spend a day at a beach club but are put off by the high price of some, try Pink Mango, about half the price of some widely recommended clubs and, despite a beach that’s a little rocky in parts, a great, peaceful experience. The food was also excellent and the staff helpful and friendly.
