Einen Besuch wert
Wunderbar gelegenes sehr altes Inn. Zimmer sehr geräumig, Bad ok, ruhig nach hinten gelegen, gemütliches Pub mit großem alten offenen Kamin, schräger Decke, gutes Essen, sehr freundliches humorvolles Personal.

Nice hotel near Dover!
Large room, clean and silent, nice bar, good restaurant! The breakfast would have been excellent but the cook came late and we had to leave in a hurry without finishing breakfast!

Altenglischer Charme
Wunderbares altes Anwesen, nicht weit von Dover oder Canterbury (Pub aus dem 17. Jahrh.lt. Wirtin). Echte altenglische Pub-Atmosphäre. Essen und Frühstück gut und reichlich, Preise moderat. Nebengebäude war zum Hotel umgebaut, große geschmackvoll eingerichtete Zimmer. Wirtsleute etwas spröde und zeitlich leider unflexibel (Wir hatten bez Frühstück "Zeitstress" weil wir in Dover die Fähre erreichen mussten. Konnten deshalb das gute Frühstück nicht so recht genießen. Bitte um 15 min Vorverlegung wurde nicht berücksichtigt). Ansonsten aber zu empfehlen.

Sehr nettes Personal, saubere Zimmer, Bad in sehr gutem Zustand. Evtl etwas lauter als andere Hotels, aber nicht negativ aufgefallen.

Nähe zu Fähre in Dover
Wir verbrachten eine Nacht im "The Rose & Crown" mit 3 Kindern im Alter von 2, 4 und 8 Jahren im Familienzimmer, bevor wir am nächsten Tag unsere Heimreise mit der Fähre von Dover aus an traten. Leider war das Zimmer ein Raucherzimmer und das Frühstück recht klein, aber ansonsten absolut ausreichend, sauber und jederzeit weiter zu empfehlen.

Usually if I have a music engagement, the best bet is a chain hotel for value and knowing what you are going to get. The Rose and Crown came up in a search and my wife and we took the chance. I am so glad we did! The village Elham is absolutely beautiful. We had two cavaliers with us who loved that on the pub grounds was a large stretch of grass to walk and the views while doing so are wonderful. The character of the pub and the village is so charming with a convenience store, and two other restaurant pubs that are also dog friendly in walking distance. You can get everything from traditional English dinners to pizza and pasta. The size of our room was double the size of the well known chains of T Lodge and P Inn, and there was a sofa, chairs, nice (and not tacky) paintings on the wall and a nice bath. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and it was a hassle free stay. In the end, when the evening came, we were so comfortable we bought wine and watched a movie. Highly recommend

Although two rooms were booked, one couldn’t be found on the system. While waiting for this to be sorted not even a drink was offered. Once checked in to the room it wasn’t made up, messy bed and towels on the floor. Again while waiting for this to be sorted there was no offer of a drink or any kind of compensation for the inconvenience.

The Rose and Crown is a beautiful building set in a lovely little village. It was an excellent base for exploring. The room was really big and had lots of storage. One slight problem was that there was a leak in a pipe but really it certainly did not detract from the room, the people or the location. I loved it and would go back. Hotel is Closed down !
The hotel was closed! Hasn’t been open for months according to neighbours. Locked up, in darkness. We drove 2/h to get there after paying in full and receiving confirmation! Stuck in Kent overnight having to grab sleep in the car as everything booked up! DISASTER! and trying to get thru to hotel.com is impossible

Elham itself is a nice little village with a few quaint pubs, picturesque church and small shop conveniently located opposite the Rose & Crown. Overall we were happy with our stay there, although the carpets in the rooms are tired and the mattresses could do with replacing as they were not particularly comfortable considering the room rate. That aside the overall cleanliness was good with a perfectly reasonable breakfast served in the morning. You may also be pleased to learn that the pub also comes with a very friendly resident bulldog!

Superb, will visit again
The stay was excellent, apart from the weather and the covid restrictikns, which are both out of their control obviously. The barmaid was very helpful as was the manager and all the staff we met. They couldnt be more helpful. Lovely pub, with friendly locals and made us feel at home. Room was beautiful, plenty of space and light and airy. Will visit again, hopeefully with better walking weather.

Check in was a little strange but not to bad room was nice and clean big and good bathroom. My issues where no TV apparently the storm had taken it out. Paid for breakfast which didn't start till 8 which I thought was a little late but got told I'd get a breakfast pack up to take with me but received nothing. And no communication about the TV

Great Staff and food, but.............
Must give a mention for 'Debbie' who was an absolute delight and did everything she could to make our stay a pleasant one. The food here is great! well cooked and good portions. Our room was spacious, clean and with very comfortable beds. The only downside is the plumbing!!!! i.e Shower needs a repair as it is not locking on and the cold water tap really needs some urgent work as the noise is horrendous!!!!! This is our third time of staying here.

Nice place, nice people, nice pub and restaurant, nice room, but there are 2 things that really need improvement: One is the soundproofing: as the rooms are out by the car park, you can hear not just the cars but also every word said by the people walking by Second is the bathroom: towel rails and shelves are in need of repair, but the biggest problem by far is the plumbing. Cold water pressure is way too low, which means it’s impossible to have a shower as the water is either freezing cold or boiling hot. It also means you can’t run the tap in the basin without getting a really, really loud knocking and banging noise. This is not good when either your roommate or your neighbour uses the bathroom in the night or early morning. In summary, it’s a nice place, but needs some work to get back to a 5 star rating
