A pleasant stay with friendly staff. Parts of hotel looking a bit tired but the grounds were lovely. Great breakfast. Menu for dinner lacked good choice, quite basic.

Warm and friendly staff
Staff were fantastic - very friendly and helpful. Everyone was very diligent with regard to Covid-10. We found Eva to be particularly helpful and friendly. Would very much recommend hotel, staff and locality.

wonderful overnight stay
Easy to find and plenty of parking. Reception very friendly and offered to help with bags. Bedrooms a good size with a bath in the en-suite. Bed also comfortable and the TV a good size. We had a couple of drinks in the bar which was very relaxing and a bar snack of toasted cheese & ham baguette with chips. Just what we needed! Breakfast in the morning was freshly prepared and very tasty. The hotel was very good value for money and we would certainly return if staying in the area.

We went for a short break to Howfield and everything was wonderful. The bed was comfortable, room was clean and food was delicious. We had breakfast included with lots of options to choose from and at dinner the food was delicious. Would stay again.

Excellent Service
Only stayed one night, rom was clean tidy, well stocked. Staff where very friendly. I left early morning before the restaurant opened, so the staff arranged for me to have a packed Lunch for me...Would recommend a stay here and will book in again if Im working back in Chilham....

Great staff in lovely old building
Fantastic old building in lovely grounds. To be expected the floor boards creek and the stairs are uneven which adds character but can be disturbing. Our room was in the old part with low doors and sloping floors. Room was spacious but beds we too soft for our likes. Bathroom was cold. Food was excellent and staff were great. Good value.

Old Worldy style hotel. It has character, Room was adequate but bed was uncomfy. Never got a chance to try dinner due to late arrival. Breakfast was good. Nothing nearby as this is in the sticks. Handy for my customer round the corner though

Flying visit
This is a lovely manor house with pleasant rooms, if slightly tired. The hotel is situated across from an industrial estate, and is very peaceful at night. Set about 2 miles off the A2 and 2 miles outside Canterbury this would make a good base for exploring the local area. Due to time constraints I was unable to use the restaurant in the evening.

Nice hotel with rustic charm
I arrived late and left early so I can't go into too much detail however the hotel was easy to find, the parking area felt safe and secure, the staff were welcoming and friendly and the rooms were as you would expect for the price. I did have a bit of an issue when I first arrived as the room I was escorted to by the receptionist appeared fine however after a few minutes I realised it was directly above the restaurant where there was obviously a large group having dinner and their laughing and talking could clearly be heard in the room. I went back down to reception and the lady was very apologetic and quickly showed me a much nicer room with period features and a 4 poster bed away from the noise. The building is packed with all the rustic charm you would expect for a property of its age, wooden beams and creaking floorboards. There are a few cosmetic faults that my keen eye spotted but all in all it was a pleasant hotel with plenty of character.

Independent hotel with character
Although a little tired, (bathroom needed updating), the hotel has character & individuality that modern chains do not. Setting is lovely (there is a nearby small light industrial estate, but not visible as hotel surrounded by lovely grounds. Excellent, friendly service. Would stay again, ideal for a weekend visiting Canterbury & area.

Very nice hotel with good restaurant
We were celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary, and were given their bridal suite which had an enormous four poster bed, which was very comfortable. There was a good size TV, and a nice en suite bathroom. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order, not just your full English, but kippers, smoked haddock and omelettes were also available. The restaurant was very good with two set menus, one £25 for 3 courses, the other £28 for 3 courses. The food was well cooked and presented. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will return as we like to visit Kent at least once a year.

A river walk away from Canterbury
A nice hotel with great staff and a good hearty breakfast. The room was large with a shower over bath in the bathroom. It has nice grounds as it holds weddings here. The bar area itself is small and is unused unless there is a group of people here. If you want s quiet drink by the fireplace then this is great. Otherwise stay out at the 2 local pubs nearby or In Canterbury

We had a very characterful room in the old part of the hotel. It was large, comfortable and clean, although the bathroom was rather tired. Super breakfasts and helpful staff.

Hotel close to park and ride for Canterbury . But last bus is 7:30 pm. Hotel comfortable and clean. Breakfast very good with wide choice from croissants to full English .

Great Service
From the first warm welcome the staff at Howfield Manor could not have done more for us during our stay. The room was comfortable and great value including an excellent range of food for breakfast.We did not have dinner during our stay because we were visiting a nearby relative but it did look enticing. We will stay again!
