We have been renting out our apartment for over three years, had over 150 reviews on various homestay platforms and received nothing but five star reviews from every guest on every platform on which we advertise. We therefore invite anyone reading this review to judge for themselves where the problem really lies. We had to inform Rob during his stay that his behaviour had caused several complaints from our neighbours, and from his reaction then we assumed that he would leave us a malicious review. These are the very first guests we have had where our neighbours have complained about behaviour. Rob left bags of rubbish lying around outside in the communal courtyard, chained bikes and racks to the residents' courtyard furniture (so that our neighbours could not sit outside), left foul-smelling sweaty cycling gear every day in the communal stairwell, and his teenage daughter dyed her hair blue in our apartment. We have a small chalkboard outside the apartment welcoming our guests by name - Rob's teenage son humourously changed his name from 'Rob & family' to 'Knob & family'. I assume the drunks that Rob refers to in his review are the group of rude and noisy friends he invited around to our apartment one evening for a party. Our apartment is not a party venue, it is within a group of apartments with several residents in their 70s and 80s who normally enjoy meeting our guests from all over the world. However we have had to apologise profusely to them for Rob's behaviour, which was described by one elderly lady resident as 'obnoxious'. I was vaguely suspicious there might be a problem when Rob initially made the booking seven months ago since his payment got rejected a couple of times, but unfortunately for us it did eventually clear. We did consider no longer using HomeAway to advertise any longer since we have never experienced guests like this before amongst the homestay community.
