In a unique location within the conservation zone and with direct access to pristine Taylor's Beach and Sloop Lagoon. Nestled in a protected corner with a northerly aspect, the fully equipped cottage is bright and cosy, its special location allowing for a range of activities or a chance just to relax and enjoy the magnificent surroundings of the world renowned Bay of Fires. Swim, fish, bush walk, rock walk over the orange lichen boulders, surf, snorkel, paddle or just relax.
Both the living areas and the deck have a sheltered northerly aspect, maximising the sunshine whilst inside the wood heater will warm the whole cottage on a chilly day.
There are three small bedrooms, first has a queen bed, second a double and the third bunks with single over double.
Whilst a beach shack, the cottage has been furnished and equipped with comfort in mind. Modern furnishings including quality bedding and linen. There are insect screens on all windows to allow in the flow of sea breezes. Kitchen is fully quipped including microwave, full oven and coffee machine. Gas bbq on the deck is provided for outdoor cooking.
TV reception is provided through the VAST regional satellite tv network,providing access to a wide range of free to air channels. There is a section of DVDs available, CD and iPod speakers and a selection of books and games. There is also no mobile reception, however a signal is available a short walk along the beach or drive up the road ( for at least Telstra and Optus customers).
The Area
Located in the Bay of Fires Conservation Area, renowned for its pristine white beaches, turquoise waters and magnificent orange lichen covered rock formations. The area is abundant with natural wildlife including a rich array of birdlife and native fauna (wombats and wallabies) whilst the rocky outcrops form some magnificent clear rock pools. With a number of beaches and coves to explore, activities include snorkelling and diving, surfing, kayaking and bushwalking. The fishing in the area is renown - catch salmon off Taylors Beach, bream in Sloop Lagoon or head into Georges Bay for boat hire, charter or good jetty fishing.
Sloop Cottage is 15 minutes drive from the township of St Helens, with all essential services, as well as several restaurants and cafes.
