This was the most I have ever paid for a night's accommodation. It was well positioned and the facilities were good. But the house itself was quite noisy with creaking at night and the doonas were too hot so I had a terrible night's sleep. One toilet seat was not secured very well. But none of this would have bothered me that much if I had been able to catch even a glimpse of an alpaca. The reason I was prepared to spend so much was to stay in what I thought was a unique setting. From the website photos of the accommodation (2/12 of alpacas) to the property guide (front cover photo of alpaca) and instruction "Guests are not to ... feed any of the sheep or alpacas without the owner's permission", I believed we would see some alpacas. I even wrote that was why I had chosen the accommodation when booking. But seeing zero alpacas made me feel misled and I was really disappointed about that.
