The picture postcard coastal village of Bamburgh, dominated by its majestic fortress and wide expanse of golden, sandy sweeping beach is a mere 6 miles east. The small and friendly market town of Wooler sits at the foot of the Cheviot Hills 10 miles west; a popular destination for those who enjoy cycling, hang-gliding, golf, horse-riding and walking – the challenging route of the ‘St Cuthbert’s Way’ runs close by. Chatton Trout Fishery invites amateur anglers to fish without a rod licence in a picturesque 4-acre lake close by. The elegant Georgian town of Berwick which straddles the salmon-rich River Tweed is 15 miles to the north, and the cobbled, market town of Alnwick, protected by its dramatic castle is a similar distance to the south where there is a wide array of amenities available.
