We had a perfect stay here. Michael and Irene are wonderful hosts - very kind, hospitable, friendly and responsive. I strongly suggest paying the extra money for breakfast, as it is very yummy and gives a wonderful start to the day chatting with these gracious hosts.
The units are impeccable with everything you could want. This is wonderfully suited for those who are looking for a place that is integrated with nature and has STUNNING views, private, safe and relaxing, while still being close enough to drive into town (20 mins to Sámara) to tour around, hang out at the beach or take in some activities, then get back out of the hustle and bustle and come back to this little oasis. You will likely be cooking a few meals yourself here, unless you drive back and forth into town and eat out constantly, but then you will not be capitalizing on your stay here.
There are howler monkeys, horses, magpie jays and toucans that can easily been spotted on the property. There is also a lovely hike to a waterfall (albeit you must be in good shape to do) and a couple of spring fed natural pools on their property that are easy to get to. The infinity pool has a beautiful view and is nicely sized (not too big nor small) for this 3 cottage compound.
Lastly, make sure you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get up the mountain, take your time and follow the directions you are provided by the hosts so you don’t get lost or stranded. The drive is not bad once you have done it once, but I suggest not tryIng it the first time at night - as it’s not for the faint of heart (as with all Costa Rica roads - especially in the mountains). Apparently you can hire a taxi to take you here, but I would think that you would want access to your own vehicle for ease of coming and going as you see fit.
