The owner contacted you in advance to confirm your stay, so that was nice. I had previously booked the property, and they cancelled it, and raised the rate. I was in a pinch, so I hesitantly rebooked it at the higher rate.

"I had a wonderful stay at Shalom Guesthouse in Port of Spain. It is located in a quiet and safe area. The room is spacious, with a mini fridge, which is great for cooling food and drinks and a table, which is practical for working, an en-suite bathroom and even a little terrace.
