Let me start with the positives: the service at Turquoise restaurant was genuinely excellent. Chris, Jim Kelly, Mary, Vivek, Bibek and the entire kitchen crew were attentive, professional and consistently friendly. They were clearly doing their very best and deserve recognition.
However, the room product is simply not on par with what one would expect in the UAE at this price point. The rooms feel worn and outdated. Our room was noticeably damp. While engineering came quickly to “fix” the AC, the humidity issue remained. It was so damp that paper bags lost their structure. The balcony door was old and kept getting stuck, requiring another visit from maintenance. Everything you touched felt moist or slightly wet. In all honesty, this was the weakest room experience we have had in the UAE.
On our last night, my wife experienced what appeared to be food poisoning with severe symptoms. My stomach also felt unwell, though less severe. That obviously put a shadow over the stay.
The internet connection was unreliable and often not working, forcing us to use our mobile data. In a resort of this category, stable Wi-Fi should be a given. The HDMI port on the TV was broken as well, and maintenance had to physically attach our streaming device behind the TV.
The à la carte restaurants were another disappointment. Although advertised as part of the package (with a minimum 3-night stay, which we met), they were essentially fully booked throughout our 5-night stay. While “subject to ava
