One of the worst, if not the worse, hotel we've ever stayed. The location was great but anything else was terrible. Not sure how this hotel has 3 starts and a 7.3 rating. We planned a trip to Aberdeen with my partner and we genuinely gave this a long thought. The price is not very competitive comparing to other chain hotels around and we choose Tera Nova to suppport a small business rather than a chain. The hotel is quite outdated and dirty. The room was the worst. Not the room we booked and shown on the pictures, very small for 2 people and we are both small. There were holes in our towels, dry rice on the duvet and dust on the dishes supplied. Surprisingly, the bathroom was the cleanest part of the room, although very cold, as no window or radiator in the bathroom, so the towels will get damped by the time we had a shower. On arrival, we were send a text with info and were told that the room is cleaned every 3 days (we stayed 4 days and no cleaning was done), the bed sheets and towels changed every 7 days, unless you pay extra. We were super busy and spent very little time in the room as we could not stand being there for long. We even thought to book another hotel, but as we were out most of the time and didn't want to lose time with packing and unpacking, so we decided to stay. For the same money you could book some big chains such as Travelodge and Ibis, so avoid this at any cost. Terrible experience. Defenitely not returning.

Dear guest,We find your review extremely unfair and incorrect. We have our experienced long term cleaners going in every day. For long stay guests we do clean the room every 3 days unless you had put out a do not disturb sign. However if you had asked for an additional towels we would have been more than happy to provide them. We even have lockers by the entrance hall in case we receive a call during unsociable hours so that guests can help themselves to items such as towels/ sheets/ duvet covers along with tea/ coffee/ milk/ shampoo at no additional charge to guests. All the duvet covers get washed and tumble dried after each check out and before next check in, therefore, there is no way for food residue to stay attached to the duvet cover. Our cleaning team send us photos of each room after each clean and that is a mandatory task that we expect as a future proof. We are a small business and very proud of our staff and our hotel. If our rates were higher than those you mentioned, I’m sure you would have made a reservation with them in the first place. If you had reached out to us in the first place we would have been more than happy to help you. Many thanks.

Getting booked in and checking in was very easy and is the first time I have done so with nothing but a key code and I like how hassle free it was, the accommodation itself was more than adequate and very fairly priced. Overall i rate the accommodation high enough that we probably would choose it again for our next time in the city. The only thing was Unfortunately we didn't feel comfortable enough to stay both nights due to the lack of staff members or knowledge of the procedures to deal with the issues that the guest next-door had with us. It made us feel like we couldn't fully enjoy our first time away together because even if we so much as had a giggle or a laugh they'd bang a door or slam something. I'd of been more than respectfully understanding say if it was late or over the top but it was the weekend and we went to have fun .

Cheap but terrible experience
Small room to be expected for price. Run down and in need of refurb. Bed sheets disgusting with yellow stains - had to go to nearby Asda to buy bath sheets to cover the bed. I arrived late in the evening, and when I conducted accommodation management to inform them I’d be looking for a refund they informed that I should have called and they would have sorted it. To be fair to management, they did try and contact me but I was in no mood to receive a call late at night or for somebody to arrive with new bed sheets close to midnight. Clean bedsheets should be a prerequisite to any booking - regardless of price. My request for refund was rejected.

Hi Paul,Thanks for bringing the issues to our attention back in September when you stayed at our hotel. We addressed it with our housekeeping team. All sheets have been and are continually regularly sorted and any marked sheets are disposed of.We also have 4 lockers with backup bedding and towels should replacements be needed at short notice.

Someone started to break the wall with a hammer at 19:30, and it continued for more than 2 hours in front of my room. Hearing some pieces of stones scattered, how can I stay with conformity and pleasure? If that was pre-scheduled construction work, I should have been told about it.

As it states clearly on our website, we are a self service hotel, providing all essentials, no frills requirements for our guests onsite whilst leveraging technology to manage admin and guest access remotely. That’s how we can keep the price down for our guests. For the safety and security of our guests all common areas are covered 24x7 by cctv. Every room has its own private bathroom, a microwave, fridge and a kettle. If you would like a porter to carry your luggage / have your breakfast in a restaurant then you would need to up your budget so that you can stay at a luxury hotel.

It was too noisy because my room was in front of the street and the window and curtains didn’t closed at all, so the sun, noise and air filtered through it...the guy who was in charge was too kindly.... the bed not so comfortable. What i really like is the fact of having microwave, kettler and refrigerator and the location.

Easy self check-in. Very good customer service available on the phone and via email. I've been upgraded to a double room. Considering the price paid and that my stay was only for one night, it was ok. My expectations were not high. But the room did not match the ones displayed on the website... Comfortable bed and heating was working well so thumbs up! Easy self check-out.

Average, not bad hotel,excellent is only location
Central location, good for shopping or night life (pubs, restaurants). Hotel is secure (cameras), without reception, all is managed virtually. Rooms are in basic standard, some smaller,some bigger. In general not bad but we are not sure if we will return here in the future.

Hi Aisha, very sorry to see such a low score - this is not what we aim for. If you are able to provide any further detail as to why you think this is all we deserve, we will know where we need to take steps to improve things for the future. Some factors we think may have caused such a low score are: 1) We were fully booked the 1 night you stayed and you had the last single room available (which is our smallest room at the hotel). 2) There seems to be an ongoing issue with emails sent to the Expedia generated email addresses for guests not being routed through to the guests - thus you never received the access details prior to arrival. This has been reported to Expedia to resolve.

Many thanks for your feedback. Our schedule is to clean rooms every 3 days (exchange of towels, vacuum and make beds), with a full sheet change every 6 to 7 days - we find this is a good balance to keep our rooms cost effective for our guests and kinder to the environment.

Just a few minor things to address, room was extremely hot even with the windows open, shower dripped all night and bed was very creeky. Good way to check in, would stay again but maybe in a different room.
