A nice hotel but not central
This was a very pleasant, small and friendly hotel, with a lovely little garden at the back. The lobby was full of books and a pleasant place to sit with a drink from the bar. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Double room was a little small. One complaint - our booking didn’t include breakfast in the cost, and when we checked in, staff indicated where breakfast was served but didn’t mention the price (we should have asked but didn’t think it would be drastic). Cost was 15euros per person for a basic self service buffet - even tea and coffee was self service, and choice was limited. At end of 4 days, we were given a bill of 180 euros - a real rip off for what there was. Other minor thing was that although hotel was in good residential area, it was a little far from the centre - about 30 mins walk, or a bus 5mins walk away. Buy a strippenkarte for travelling - it costs 2 strips to get into town.

A lovely stay
As always, our experience here was excellent. The Malie is definitely our first choice for a stay in Utrecht. The staff is always pleasant and helpful, and the location is perfect if you like a quiet neighborhood and don’t mind the 10-15 minute walk to town.

A good value
My wife and I stayed at this hotel on our trip to the Netherlands for the Tour de France start in Rotterdam in early July 2010. The hotel is readily accessible by bus or taxi from Utrecht Central Station, which, in turn, provides easy access to all the cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, etc.) that one may wish to visit in the country. Amenities are limited compared to US hotels, but as expected compared to European hotels. Reasonably spacious rooms. A good value. Customer service was excellent and helpful.
