A historic hotel in a perfect situation
This is wonderful historic hotel that has been thoroughly renovated and updated to provide a very pleasent hotel in a perfect situation. The only criticisms come about due to its historic age. For example noise does travel through the building if, for example, they have live music in the bar. However, you can get a room at back at the hotel away from the noise. The position of the hotel could not be bettered and I would love to have stayed their for longer!
The boat trips are a must do!

The Most Idyllic ocation
Excellent location, sit on the wooden veranda for breakfast and look at the sea, boats and small foot ferry plying it’s trade. Continental breakfast is fab, they make bacon and onion cakes! Don’t have a room on the front, firstly you may want an early night and the people enjoying the night sitting on the veranda may keep you awake. If you are awake, get out of your room, walk across the single tracked road and sit on the beach! The staff can’t do enough for you. Catch the foot ferry and go and see the Waitangi Treaty grounds, go on a trio to see the hole in the rock and basically chill out.
Don’t take too much luggage, all the NZ hotels have washing machines and driers, so why lug it around? All the restaurants are family friendly and excellent value, loads of choice in Russell, or pop across on the ferry.
